Unfortunately, I don't think so. I see some kind of tastyspleen stuff up sometimes, but I think it's some kind of grappling hook mod or something *(I could be mistaken)

Degy was one of the worst persons I have ever encountered in my 15+ years on the internet. I was glad to see Nobody's alternative go, but it's a shame that it was not replaced with a more normal server.

Hmm let's see.

First of all he only played on that particular server. Never anywhere else on the internet. He claimed to be really really good, but if he was on the server and you were beating him, he'd kick/ban you. It didn't take much either, a few kills at the most. Of course his rules about winning did not apply to him.

He had the server set up so that players who set a team had no self damage. Of course I never set a team because I believe it is wrong not to half self damage in an FFA. I usually won anyways. This made it easier to see who might be trying to play a 'real' game though, and as such was worthy of a ban.

Then he had all these wacky tools written into the mod where if you were winning he could come in and make it so that you would get all super lagged. Then if you died because of it he'd talk trash.

When he joined the server it would play a sound clip of a cop car siren.

He had a forum on the server's website. You couldn't read the forum unless you registered. The registration had to be reviewed and accepted by the 'admin', him. It took a long time.

A few of us tried to talk some sense into Degy and even inflate his ego by exaggerating the role of the most popular and most centrally located FFA server in the dying quakeworld community.

He was completely non-receptive though, even after a close friend of mine, an articulate female, wrote a very convincing article imploring him to stop such ugly behavior, his only response was "Stop your fuckin' crying!!".

He never even 'policed' the server in a good way either. Players talking trash or being rude or just going bonkers trolling were never in any trouble. Winning though, that's another story.

Haha, I remember some of that. I've seen him lag players before and that siren file that played when he logged on got on my nerves. Those weren't the best days IMO, and thankfully near the end of the server's life, I don't think I ever saw him log on once. :>

Yeah, Degy was a terrible admin. His server wasn't bad when no one was actually administrating it however. All the admins and Degy himself were morons.

well I'd love to see another NA QW FFA server go up, but I don't personally have any idea how to go about setting one up.

There are a couple FFA servers up but the problem is the player base has died out for FFA. There used to be a lot of old school players who frequented Nobodies Alternative and played a LOT. After that server went most of them did too. It's like they only knew one IP and not how to find new servers. In truth though Degy drove away many people because anyone who won too much or beat him got shit on or banned. Used to be a small legion of Degy fanboys who were absolutely terrible at QW but would accuse anyone and everyone of ridiculous shit on his server. Such as timing armors = camping = cheating = hacking was their basic logic.
