Event: IEM5

Due to the many problems with Quakelive in the past 2 weeks and the attendance at DreamHack Winter 2010 of several players, a few late matches of the IEM5 European Championship will be played tonight. The streams infos will be announced as soon as known!

Yesterday the ESL published a news about the removal of

Nitrino and

Stermy from the competition, because of the penalty points they accumulated.

No, he is the rapha killer.

He had problems on IEM World finals with his config and setup, the same kind rapha had on IEM American final.
Except Rapha managed to be able to use other guys configs, but stermy had same problem even with diferent config.
Yet he was forced to play anyway... or else he would be banned.

On ESWC they changed rules right before tournament without warning anyone and cause of that av3k and rapha passed that phase, if it were the old rules(the rules that were there in the beginning) stermy would have passed that phase and 1 of them(rapha av3k) wouldn't have passed.

And on DH Cooller and av3k try to lose on purpose, yet admins say either play game or coin toss...rofl @ coin toss.

Yet he always plays his games and tries to win at DH even after all the bullshit he has been through.

If anything admins should use their brain and behave well.

He is the most unlikest guy i have ever seen, seriously.

There is nothing wrong with claiming justice when admins of tournaments are retarded.

Yeah he's basically a big hypocrite. The way he delayed the Dreamhack tournament is the opposite of professional behavior, he's acting more like a diva then a pro QL player. It's a shame we wont see him in the finals though, considering he's a player that has the potential to take a top 3 placement.

stermy use fastweb, one of the most common ISPs in italy and for sure the best suited for gamers. During the last 3 weeks its routing outside italy fainted, causing high ping (random from 50 to over 250) and packetloss to everyone on every server.
The problem has not been fixed yet

Wrong, Cypher did something about it, Strenx and Spart1e played at Dreamhack, as well he could have just played with whatever ping and taken the loss and likely still managed second in his group. Apparently his ISP has had this problem for a few weeks now, don't tell me he couldn't do anything about it.

then he start playing aero, he lost

dm13, warmup...f3...fight!
spartaz0rd kill strenx, and got the map control
strenx call timeout, whining about sound again, and that the only way to fix it is to reconnect
esl didn't consider this like a defloss, and let him replay the map under certain conditions, that he didn't follow, sparta raged, and he lost because he wasn't focused anymore

strenx claimed he had problems with his sound during the warmup on aerowalk (3rd map), alrdy then strenx said he could only fix it by reconnecting. they started off dm13 (1st map) and strenx died pretty quickly and spartaz0rd had pretty much the map locked down. strenx pauses the game and says his sound problems are back, after a while he reonnects. they ask admins what to do, they wanted some time to make a decision, so they start the t7 (2nd map), which spartaz0rd won.

because it was so early in the match, the admins decided not to give spartaz0rd a defwin, but strenx had to rush lava and give spartaz0rd a -1-0 lead. strenx took an YA before rushing lava, that made spartaz0rd so pissed he couldnt focus for the rest of the game (or something like that.) after strenx got back to a 6-0 lead spartaz0rd starts whining in chat and shortly after that spartaz0rd forfieted the map.

so they move on to the 3rd map (aerowalk) and strenx just runs spartaz0rd over, we see some more whine from spartaz0rd before he joins forfiets that map too.

At the moment, I've got better things to do than taking over the job of lazy admins who (I guess) are also responsible for talking to the lvl^ guys and other streaming services.

I just find it weird that the IEM5 still has coverage but the EMS7's coverage stopped when the teams entered the playoffs.

what admins? esl admins? why would the admins of a league also have to be responsible for the coverage. xou decided to do so most of the time but that is props to him, it just shows the sad state of ql coverage when league admins have to do the coverage on an external site
and lazy? are you kidding me? they dont get any money for this and are investing countless hours... plz

i am disappointed about the coverage aswell, but in a general sense. people just need to step up and do something for their game/mode.

Because there's money involved and the sponsors probably appreciate it if the matches are broadcasted?

True, it's not necessarily the admins' job to make sure that a tournament isn't played without the public realizing it, but they should at least make sure that _someone_ takes care of it. And obviously, that's not the case for the TDM playoffs.

I just assumed you were somehow involved and knew what's happening there at ESL.

Awesome match. Too bad there are always only ~200 viewers for TDM...

TDM is hard to broadcast and I can easily imagine that is very tough to follow for non TDM players... But lvlup do it pretty well...

By the way it should be nice to get more spectating choices like, for example, follow the guy with the biggestn health/armor stack, guys carrying a certain weapon, aeras on the map where there is action, etc...

that biggest stack-option sounds like a rly shitty idea :D new pov after every inpact, if not the big stack is getting a spawnkill vs someone with mg :DD

It is hard to know who to spectate in TDM but we will try and improve with the player switching over time.

It could be made much easier if there was some general overview screen showing map structure and player positions with some basic info about each player's status. Unfortunately it would take id software about 250 years to do anything close to that, and they'd still find a way to make it completely useless.

Loved cooller's slow start on ztn vs Draven. His mix of unexpected aggression(at least not around powerups) and risky rails&rj's just smothered Draven last half of match. In my top ten ztn demos of the year.

You could tell though that cooller was totally confident about the game. The turning point obviously being the dropdown towards mega, with lg vs rail.

I guess that's what avek meant at dh when talking about cypher's creativity. I.e. the ability to catch your opponent with his pants down.

So I heard Nitrino got banned due to trying to bribe a player to gain an extra win that would mean he, instead of noctis, would go to the IEM grand final. Can you confirm this xou?
