Well all you need is to make a Quake 3 folder and a baseq3 folder. Download pak0.pk3 from somewhere and get the 1.32 release from quakeunity, then it should be fine.

dunno how bad your connection is, but my connection is very horrible 45-80 ping hopping all the time.. Even with that its possible to hit +35% lg and +50% rail in duel which is close to maximum for me... I can even hit rockets though ping is unstable, imo netcode is VERY GOOD.

it'd serve us better if he knew how it worked before commenting on it, however.

The cuboid hitboxes in CPMA are up to 40% bigger depending on the angle than the cylinder hitboxes that are used in Quake Live. How they 'work' is fairly simple, you shoot at them. Hit = damage, miss = ur a shitty.

I only played Q3 for a few months single player back when it was released or something, tried it out a while ago after playing QL and it just felt horrible to me.

I watched a bunch of cypher matches from a few years ago, all he ever does is rail from afar and then LG upclose. Q3 weapon balance is broken.

In quake live, rockets are the principal weapon yes, but that's the way a Quake game should be. LG is very useful as strenx can attest, rail is powerful as k1llsen can attest, and you can ask cypher or rapha about rockets.

People say plasma aint useful but if you have good aim (cypher) and you are on LAN (dreamhack) and on 120 hz (t7 vs. stermy) then you can rape an enemy faster with plasma than with any other weapon.

And the weapon balance in QL allows for strategic playing styles to be used. You don't have to be an aim whore like you did in Q3 to get kills.

I'm convinced QL is a better game.

And that's why cq3 gameplay was brought in cpma

couldnt agree more.
the only thing that i might prefer in q3 is the nodm9 itemlayout as opposed to dm13. really makes more action happen and is less encouraging for players to just camp rooms for ages.

Jibo actually plays pretty good vq3, if he put some effort to convert to ql (witch everyone need to do, for example: cooller)... he will actually do pretty well in ql. After all ql is +back bitch too :D.

Only managed to commentate a few games, was my birthday last week and my friends have organised for me to goto a party today

As for the config @pks - Sadly i havn't been able to acheive the same results for Q3 as i have done in QL.

This cup was promising to be very interesting, but due to a bunch of no-shows it became less entertaining. :(

strenx, hazrd, k1llmaster, zsx, guard, spart1e, l1nkje, Insan3 (almost missed it), Vbart all were no-shows.

noctis, mars1, plazmaaa, kaide, zeroql, crashmb, lth, and a few others quit halfway through their matches and forfeited.

I'm so glad I organized this...

I think timelimit 15 and bo3 from the 1st round made many players get bored. They are all used to tl 10 nowadays.

I agree with Trance, ADHD got the better of the players that bothered to turn up. Zotec styleee set-up would work a treat though!

But it's VQ3. That means 15 tl, plus we have more money than Zotac available. QL has just taken over the EU community, because the last tournament for the VQ3 NA Masters had a lot more support.

The time limit has much less of an impact if the matches have a faster turnover like the Zotac structure. Don't give up the good work.

Because Quake 3 is an aimwhore fest, so players out of control get raped in the butt?

Story of Q3. Game starts, couple of minutes pass till the bigger aimwhore gets a kill. Racks up control, then goes on a rampage for 10+ kills including 5 spawns. Few minutes later control shifts and the other player goes on a 10+ kill rampage.

This goes back and forth until the player who shoots higher % LG and rail wins.

Cooller and rapha were true aimwhores hitting 60 lg and 80 rail in vq3 times, yeah yeah...

first one to spot the quakelive fanboy wins a prize.

Weapon balance is broken in vq3. It has been and can be easily exploited.

It's ridiculous how a player like jibo or zero4 can just +forward on noctis or rapha and take them out in 2 seconds flat cause they can hit 40% LG.

GTV is okay only because it works, but the way you use it so shitty.

From the admin perspective it is very annoying to switch povs and enable mvd's because you must have multiple q3 instances run to do it. Imagine in the way you just put one command with ip and port and it does it for you.

From the viewer perspective it is also annoying to switch between rooms to find a on-going game. Imagine a nice interface with graphical map icons, players on the server, score, status, etc. So you can just click on the one you like.

SG is overpowered in QL? That's bullshit. Do you see players jumping around with SG all the time? No. It's still the weapon that is useful on close range and tell me why it shouldn't be? The weapon balance is about all weapons being useful in particular situations. There should be moments when SG is the most suitable weapon and there should be ones when PG is. You and probably we all get used to RL/LG/RG being the only weapons that matter what is bad for the art of duel games.

I feel sorry to the guy who donated. This was complete rubbish compared to the usa counterpart.

It's not like jibo or zero4 are utter noobs that they can beat rapha and noctis because of the damage output. Jibo was undefeated throughout the entire tourney. I say his skill helped him more than the weapon balance. Did it play a factor? yes but it did not mean noctis had no chance.

Jibo simply played better than noctis. Rapha also beat everyone in the tourney until he met zero4 who happens to be one of the greatest Q3 players. Jeez, him winning sure is because of weapons only and not because he happens to be good.

I prefer quake live but to chalk up their wins simply because q3 is unbalanced is ridiculous.
