fnatic folds, 4Kings fold...seems like the upcoming DH TDM tournament has stirred some pots!

Maybe this will help other teams strenghten and make it even more exciting in summer.

From what I know, v3rb and zik want to make a polish TDM team for DH with Av3k and co. That was the beginning of the end I guess. Sad.

That sure is a strong line-up. It's sort of sad to see two great TDM teams just vanish because of a few roster changes. There are always players looking to prove themselves in the upper echelons of Quake. It just takes a bit of searching.

well something at fnatic had to change, either the player had to find motivation again and take tdm seriously or there had to be roster changes...

sad to see 4K split though :( but in the end we get 2 great teams out of it :)

i wouldn't be so sure of 4k actually splitting, don't wanna go into details but it should be pretty obvious what happened.

dreamhack costs money and the situation for tdm teams is still dire (in part 'cos of esl not paying imo), we should be happy that those players seem to want to attend no matter what. here's hoping for great games at dh.

It seems clear to me that link1n may join krysa & company to form a new team.

I think duel needs some changes and it's good that TDM is becoming bigger. If duel were the only part of Quake Live, it's not going to last because we've seen most of the possibilities already played out.

4kings may have so called split but it's still 4kings.

Krysa, DK, anak1n and jocko are still a solid team and who knows, maybe we can finally have l1nkje officially joining them.

They're now playing as The mofos and The Shadows. Moreover, an all polish team with Zik, Verb and Avekkk doesn't seem to cut it. They still haven't confirmed the remaining 2 players though.

True, but failed to convert them to kills for his team. Also iirc, poland lost that match. Don't quite remember who it was against though.

Edit: It was against France with Strenx and Linkje both playing.

He didn't play well for fline imo but he did well for poland.
Fline seemed strongest with the lineup of abso, wit, dash and foppa.

In EU, TDM teams must have more than 6 players to be taken serious.That's why [R]eason is all a joke : )

the lack of team game competition in QuakeLive forces us to make some decisions and unfortunately, this is the reason my mate deus and I are leaving the QL squad of fnatic.

What about doing something similar to the model what Australians have done to support their fella dandaking?

Since #qlpickup.eu is pretty active, the CTF NationsCup and the HOQ league too, I wonder if it´s doable to open a CTF-competition, where each team pays a small entrance fee, and the winning team, receives additionally some donations. The prize money (including donations) will then be used to pay the expenses of the travel of the team to the QuakeCon CTF tournament.

Looking for CTF clan.

Only difference is that Dandaking is one guy, where as you need to pay for four players to play in a SINGLE ELIMINATION tournament. (risk of failing is high).

4000-5000 euro to cover everything for that team. Doubt that is easy to get without a sponsor paying most.

And holding an open tournament now to select a team would be utter crap :p Every one plays the same and it would not be about team performance, but more individual skill. Would at least need a proper time frame where teams can prepare.

Too much basically to figure out without a decent sponsor backing you up. You won't have any solid arrangements if that is not the case and rely on community effort to raise such an amount. I would love to see it happen though, but it's unrealistic at this point :O

Yeah. 4-5kEUR may even be somewhat of a conservative estimation for the costs.

I doubt that with the current amount of money in QL sponsorships, any EU team (k1ck, broken, bface, etc) is going to travel there. The best realistic option I see would be some sponsored duel players with CTF experience making a mixteam (spartie, sc00t, draven, calipt/linkin?)

On a semi-related note, there were more European teams at QuakeCon in those years.

In 2005, both Check 6 and idle.ee (two Estonian teams) were sent to Quakecon, plus in 2006 idle.ee (in addition to crossfire.nu) as well. I have no idea who paid for it though, but I imagine sponsors threw a lot more money around before the economic crisis.

I bet 4Kings thing is only temporary, I see zik and verb coming back to the team after DH Summer. Let's not fool ourselves, it's not like there will be a TDM boom right after DH, sadly it's probably the only serious lan with TDM that QL will get in years :x

Even without zik and verb, krysa, jocko, dk and anak1n are still a good team. If they can get linjke to play regularly for them, those 5 would still be a powerful team and not to be underestimated.

It's more like 2 members of 4kings decided to leave rather than 4kings splitting up.

Toxjq is playing with gopher and phantom some times. Fox will drop from reason and join back with them.

Full power toxjq and fox are enough to carry, however gopher unrusted with phantom will destroy you guys.

seeing as fnatic never prac or take part in the majority of the tourneys this is a good thing..

with the 4k split we will see reason / rage finals for the forseeable future though as neither of the new teams formed will be strong enough to challenge top2..

4kings isn't really split as you make it out to be that rage/reason are automatically the top 2 teams now.
The mofos lineup is still a strong 4kings lineup but linjke would really add something to that lineup.
