the fallacy of this is, even though I know these are the real images and that should be thrilling enough, they look no different than thousand of CGI generated images that I have seen before. and it diminishes the sense of wonder a lot.
at 1:41 it really looks like the probe went through the rings (and not that the image was zoomed) and I can't believe they would have taken such a dangerous path
so to me it looks like cgi because it just is bullshit cgi
and anyway "these images have been digitally tweaked", well they shouldn't have, raw images would have been better ; but that's for an imax crap movie so I guess it's alright, and they'll certainly ad motion blur and DoF and the other sad trendy effects too (and lens flare ! fucking lens flares !)
there is very little danger in passing through saturn's rings. I'm not an astronomer and even I know that. the rings are probably on the same order of density as the asteroid belt.
of course R2D2 might not like those odds.
also, just because an image is tweaked doesn't necessarily mean it was beautified. I am high as fuck right now and have no short term memory, nor do I care to look it up, but many probes don't record in visible light. such "images" would necessarily have to be modified in order to produce something to be meaningfully interpreted by human senses.
thats because there is stuff out there but the fuckheads don't want us to know.... so they give us CGI and shit, we've never even been to the fuckin' moon
