Removing the sound from rail and lg will noobify the game. It won't affect pro players and their games at all, yet now people who can only camp and whore will be able to just run around with rail.

One of the big differences between beginners and average players is able to identify the sounds.

Adding sound to rocket launcher will arguably slow down the game even more, since you won't be able to surprise people any more, it will just lead to people camping with machine gun out. i.e. you will always hear the attacking opponent first.

Adding a sound to every weapon is just moronic and will noobify the game even more than removing the sounds.

The game doesn't need to be changed, it's fine as it is. The only changes I will possibly support is a revert back to vq3 settings, or somewhere in between current settings and vq3 settings.

All the changes you noobies are suggesting or asking for are retarded, learn how to play the game.

Here's a better idea, id makes Quake moddable, allow people to buy/host their own servers with their own modifications to the game. Just like CS or any other successful FPS.

A rising noise/hum for a player staying in the same spot could be cool as a devpick.

But that could easily be negated by just walking in small strafe circles; so have the rising noise/hum for below or equal to w/e the walking speed is?

If I were to be picky, I would lower the RL knockback just a smidgen, but I fear any change would make the lg too strong.

On a serious note, I don't think QL needs any serious adjustment(s) anymore. Id have got a pretty nice balance going as it is, and one small change cascades down and causes other problems. Small additions like the chain jump/clipping ledges make small yet non-game breaking differences, and add more options to the resourceful player.

Small, subtle changes like the (relatively) recent movement changes are the way forward for any future QL adjustments imo :)

It needs a fucken box version no shitty browser game and it needs LAN support + having the ability for us to buy the premium maps as DLCs, I'd pay for it, but right now for a non pro/ high skilled playa it's pointless to buy a premium pro account imo, plus quake live as a browser game = instant fail at new gamers - they think about pony unicorn attack with a quake engine, or what the fuck was the name of that game where you had to run with a unicorn pony and collect stars and there was that silly music... whatever, you get the point

seriously, the first change to quake should be reduced radius for jumping/footstep sounds. it is incredibly easy to sit still and listen to where your opponent is. the change is simple and would reduce passive play in every gamemode. somethings wrong when you can hear thru several walls/floors, like on osp5 for example.
