I believe WCG have already announced their games -- And Quake Live isn't on the list. Same goes for ESWC. Counter-Strike Source gets picked up but QL doesn't? What a farce.
Indeed, sad. :(
Why are they so easily bribed by these third party F2P game developers? I believe the WCG shouldn't be about money but actually showing off the games that can really be considered eSports. Just makes my blood boil. D:
Quake is pretty much dead after dreamhack&qcon in terms of serious competition.
I smell rapha&avek going to uni next year, Cooller quiting, Cypher focusing on studies etc.
MLG won't pick it up unless their (poor) ladder suddenly booms in player numbers which we know won't happen. ESWC is ran by other people, so I don't expect anything. WCG is WCG :)
I think this it will be at WCG and MLG, then they will rethink their position because IEM and ESWC dropped it, but IEM and ESWC will look at how WCG and MLG picked it up and pick it up again too, so next year it won't be at WCG and MLG, but will be again at IEM and ESWC. And then it will finally die.
Ye, WCG have like half of games only for Asian players so they can be 'the best'' :))
Anyway, I want to see vote results. Imo QL had really hi number of vote. COD CS players voted for QL too. Been following on SK gaming web page and many CS COD players said 'ql hell yea!'
I'm really getting the impression that 99% of all ESR-Users are emo-bitches...
QL hat the most succesfull year to date in 2010 with arguably the best games in Quake (3/Live) history. And you allready start whining your eyes off because it "will" die. What the fuck is wrong with you guys?!
From Where do you get the proven information that IEM won't feature Quake Live?!
There is no official games-list for IEM VI yet. Only thing we got till now is some players saying that ESL maybe won't feature QL next season.
In the meantime ESL asked for the communitys voice on what games should be featured in IEM VI. Guess what had the most "votes" apart from CS 1.6/SCII? QUAKE F***ING LIVE! Even more than CSS, CoD and other more populated games. I would not count QL out for the IEM VI Season yet.
From where do you get the information that ESWC won't pick it up??? They've had Quake in since 2002 in every single Tournament they've hosted (apart from the one that was in China because there Quake is baned). It allways brought them reasonable ammounts of viewers (even last year there were some X-thousand viewers). Untill now they have only published 5 games for the 2011 edition but only in 2002 they had 5 games in their competition, since then there were atleast 6 games on the list (not counting the Masters-Events) and in 2011 they even had 11 (!) official games. I think they will atleast feature 3 aditional games (imo QL, SCII and SSFIV). So here again we don't know if there will be QL or not but it would be an upset for me if they don't pick it.
WCG, well fuck them! The last time they have featured a Duel FPS was in 2004 and the last time they've featured Quake was in 2002, so who gives a shit about them???
MLG would be really if they would pick it as a Pro-Circuit game (and toss out SSBB) but It does not generate enough viewers in the US (their main market) so it is unlikely.
QuakeCon will feature it for sure and same goes for DreamHack.
Quake Live is nowhere near to dead and it won't die in the next year (I would even predict that it won't die untill Doom 4 is out, cuz I still hope that it will have a good 1vs1 multiplayer).
Given the low international mobilisation around the game Warcraft III, both from the community and local tournament organisers, the organizing committee has decided to cancel the game’s presence in 2011. As a result, the Starcraft 2 tournament will be open to more participants and the organizing committee reserves the right to add a new game in the coming weeks.
