the problem in your logic is id doesn't care for quake live.
oh wait... i already quit.then you should either not care, or try to slow this process down (for example by not leaving yourself), what you're doing is perfectly pointless.
You're just looking for a scapegoat, eg someone to point to and say "ah there's the bad guy", when in reality i'm just the messenger.
you: think it's false, photoshopped even (did you actually go to check?)
me: see you as nothing more than a pawn, since your only argument, here or on the ql forum, has been. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
have anything else constructive to add? if not, i'll just disregard your comments from here on out."closing your ears won't make quake live grow, it just makes you look like an ignorant fool "
Trends for Websites combines information from a variety of sources, such as aggregated Google search data, aggregated opt-in anonymous Google Analytics data, opt-in consumer panel data, and other third-party market research. The data is aggregated over millions of users, powered by computer algorithms, and doesn't contain personally identifiable information. Additionally, Google Trends for Websites only shows results for sites that receive a significant amount of traffic, and enforces minimum thresholds for inclusion in the tool.
Now, searches do have small inflated results (especially during spiking trends) due to overlapping words. For instance, you'll notice a spike in searches around times when earthquakes happenyou can see that quite well when you compare quake live and quakelive btw
There are certainly some hits that aren't people who actually ever play the game, but that hurts what you are saying. There's no way to tell what percentage of hits that correlates to, so we'll have to assume it as an average across the entire timeline, with some degree of error margin.actually i just did. more public attention at the beginning. so no we dont have to assume its the same percentage over the entire timeline. but its not like i think thats all, the general interest in ql is certainly in decline
If the percentage of people who did visit the site had increased, you would either need an increase in searches, or an increase in hits. Both of those are on a downward trend. Less players are coming in, and more players are leaving.i really dont get how you can still think/argue its that simple and your indicators are that clear. at this point i am done arguing again cause it really doesnt go anywhere. you have your opinion or some point you wanna proof and then read everything the way that fits your cause.
Don't you find it at all telling that QL situated to Q3 levels in less than a year?no, it primarily tells me that you cant use the number of searches in your argmunet as you do. cause q3 and ql get the same amount of searches but they obviously dont have a similar amount of active players or the same potential for new players for that matter. you are reading into this what you want and not what you can actually deduce from
I can only assume that you either wanted to discuss it (which I thought we were doing), or to prove me wrong.at first i was interested in google trends and how meaningful it is for quakelive.com, but then i got into the discussion about what it means for ql health and although that is a really really interesting topic, i dont want to discuss it here and now because its complicated and to actually capture my thoughts, i would need a few hours to write 2-3 pages of text about it. and thats not really what i wanna do right now ;)
don't wanna disturb your little chat, but... afaik you can block google analytics, i suspect atleast some of the more tech-savvy people are already doing that.i never wanted to end like one of those guys who have little chats with vedic
In time i'll be the one laughing at you when all your friends stop playing and you'll be crying about not being able to find a game.seems to be the purpose of your life for 2(?) years now. What if QL is alive for another 5 years? You can hardly deny that that has a negative impact on the quality of your life in some way. Id isn't the worst company in the world and incubus isn't the worst person in the world (not even on quake live lol). If they treated you wrong, get over it.
He turned into an "illogical insulting whiner" because of the way the community treated him.
People will never get banned for racism/harrasment/trolling, nor should they
hello raythenoob
ID originally wanted to make a browser game as a test.
Originally all current ID staff were working on QuakeLive (pre-beta + beta).
They chose Quake3 because it was their most popular game and most compatible. (not q4 cos it's bad)
ID then saw a huge influx of players and decided to support the game to keep their reputation high and good marketing for them.
The game quickly became less popular but the cult community behind it would damage ID's reputation too much if they shut it down- and the advertisement from competitive communities and the name of it being attached to ID is a great asset for them.
ID then realised they needed their coders for their other projects (rage) and employed new ones but had to implement a subscription model to help pay their new coders.
ID didn't make as much money as they expected and cut their QL staff.
Rage is currently coming out and is their first _new game release_ since 2004!
