you're lucky to fix it, ql is a technical mess. after the latest patch i have huge fps issues on several maps. none of the commands affect it, updating drivers, reinstalling ql, formatting c:... nothing works

you're like the only other person who has problems with FPS in quake live

this might help (although it sounds weird)

try to set visual effects to 'optimal performance'

assuming you have a german win7, its located in 'Leistungsinformationen- und tools'

there was a thread about this on esr some time ago, i think fazz or noctis figured out what caused these lags...

tho you're obviously talking about fps and not lags, this might be something else worth checking, if you haven't yet done so.

try switching different stuff like threaded optimization at nvidia panel

seems that vertexlight 1 solves the problem

vertex 0 worked fine in xp, and imo it is a disadvantage when you have to turn it on :(

You have an HP dv6t. Which doesn't support OpenGL on the discrete GPU yet, wait for a BIOS update. QL is OpenGL.

win 7 runs great for me, but I have disabled a few features which are on by default. off the top of my head these are:

Indexing / Windows Search
Superfetch
ReadyBoost
ReadyBoot
Windows Defender
Remote Assistance
System Restore

some of these are services, registry entries and control panel options, you'll have to google around for more info.

i also disabled some smaller things like window animations and that annoying thing that snaps windows to the edge of the screen.

Had already disabled all of these (and a bit more actually) but I didn't know you could get rid of the window snapping too, nice.

Bfbc2 is running great, ql is unplayable, ie. Asylum 4v4 ca 40-60fps and sometimes 100fps

I've got this problem since I installed firefox 5. Someone told me to set affinity for plugin-container process to one core only and it looks that it helped a lot. There are two processes in a system while using firefox and it has to be set for the one that is getting more memory while running ql. I was using Windows 7 from the beginning and there wasn't any problems with playing ql before.

In control panel somewhere in power settings choose profile "performance"

Hmm I dont have this problem but try setting threaded optimization off in nvidia control panel for plugincontainer.exe if you're usingfirefox.

I'm using nvidia drivers version 260.99 if that helps (I had some trouble with newer drivers)
