Ha, nice. Yeah I'm a pale dude now that I'm a programmer working from home in Seattle. I get some skateboarding done on the sunny days, but it's not enough to bronze my nerdy shit, lol.
Yeah I was teetering between the q3 logo and q1. The q1 logo seems more classic and timeless to me, and can kind of be used generically to sum up all the quakes. The reward icons are super cool too, I definitely considered them. Might be something to add later. Off to a good start though, haha.
Yeah, the Quake 1 logo is more timeless. Especially considering there is a good chance that if they renew the franchise, it will simply be called 'Quake' again (following the recent trend with remakes).
I don't know man, I'm a Senior C# Developer for the world's largest commercial real estate corporation, a fortune 500 company. I work from home now, but that's only a recent change because I moved to the Northwest. I was in Phoenix before, and the tattoos were never a problem in the office. If really big execs ever came, I'd just wear a long sleeve shirt.
You know I didn't really pay too much attention to the time. I think it took between 90 minutes and 2 hours. It was done by Lisa Orth, and she's a 1 woman shop by appointment only. She has a long history up here of graphic design, tattooing, and music. She charges $140/hr, but she cut me a deal and only charged $150. Probably cause we were all laid back, it was a Sunday afternoon, and she wasn't doing anything else. I tipped 20%, so it was $180 all said and done.
sorry but i have to laugh a little at all the friendly esr comments on your tattoo. you've chosen one of the most mainstream things in the world to make a tattoo of...a computer game. that does not make you cooler than you were before. to most people you are a super nerd.
Considering that less than 5% of the world's population owns a computer, and even fewer have a computer with internet access, I would question your statement that a computer game is one of the most mainstream things in the world.
But at any rate, I'm not trying to be "cooler than I was before". And if it makes me nerdier? Good! Fuck "super cool" people with their meaningless butterfly and tribal tattoos. I'm a married guy with 3 kids, a great career, and a lot of hobbies I'm really passionate about, one of them being quake.
But, haters gonna hate. Nice talking to you.....oh wait, anonymous.
hehe, you seem a fun guy. I have a passion for quake, too. But i´m not much of a tattoo guy. apreciate your pics though :D
all the flamers are just most pathetic.
i did not mean to insinuate that you were cut off from social life. it seems strange to to me that you'd want to keep a quake logo on your arm for the better half of your life. after all, you are a walking ad for id software, and do you really know who you are supporting indirectly with it...
you know, when your passionate about something and you also like tattoo's- a reasonalble thing to do would be to get it tattooed on you.
I have a quake tattoo behind my ear, and i know even if in 20 years time and quake's not around, the tattoo symbolysis the passion i had for the game at the time i got the tattoo.
Keep up the nice youtube commentarys as well evol!
why would you want to inject ink under your skin with a super fast needle, enduring pain and taking a slight risk for skin cancer if you wouldnt care what others think?
the only exception is to threaten your enemys and apply psychological pressure, but i think the era of melee combat is now only exist in history books in our society
everytime i see a tattoo i see an insecure person, its the mark of weakness nowadays

i'm planning on getting a tattoo (unsure of design) that has integrated into it the names of everyone i care about/have cared about (i.e. have passed away). it's not to show people that i care enough to get their names on my skin, it's for me to be able to look and realize who and what is/was important to me. when i get old i'll be able to look back and remember perfectly what i cared about and why, that makes it worth it to me.
don't argue it, to each their own. if you don't want one, don't get one. the more you press for reason why someone shouldn't the more you sound like a religious person telling you why you should accept their god instead of your own.
well if u need a tattoo to remember for someone u certainly didnt cared enough about them =) so u actually conflicting with what you trying to say.
my experience is that the people who have nothing to impress others, yet craving the attention go for the simpliest thing they can do and try to make an impression by their look.
i wont forget, it's a reminder. "it's for me to be able to look and realize who and what is/was important to me". kind of like a permanent post-it note
i think people like you just don't get tattoo's so you feel superior to others who have them. ego-feeding internet lurkers
i dont feel superior. neither special or unique as my momma told me. hence the reason i dont wear colorful shit on my skin to let anyone who see me know that im a clown, just not gonna realize it for the next 10-20 years.
define what u mean by melee combat. a bare knuckles fight is like nothing to be honest, you certainly wont die while smashing some prick in the pub... a few day in the hospital at the top.
actually when tatoos been made in a much painful way and people was fighting with swords and axes, someone who didnt had a clear area on his skin was kind of a threat i imagine...
intimidation still works, be it knuckles, knives or swords.
it doesn't matter if you find the results of a knuckle fight not worth losing sleep over, i beg to differ though. it's also not entirely unplausible that such fights leave you with irreparable damage or even dead (some nazi did the infamous curb kick recently in .de, the victim luckily didn't die).
besides, who says it's bare knuckles, why would anyone fight along 'rules' of any kind in such a situation? a friend of mine got stabbed in the lung and nearly died last winter, the guy attacking him went so far to aim under his protective vest and succeeded.
from time to time when organizing parties/raves or (more often) when helping out others who do, people ask me to do 'the door' or do 'general security'. i've had my share of unpleasant nights that left me wondering if things would've went different if i had, say, ACAB on my knuckles and the logo of our local football club on my neck... my looks seem to signal 'nice guy' far too much to be taken serious by some of the people i encountered.
wrong. A tattoo is a great way to show off your love for something/someone if it has meaning. In this case it does...
BUT... that doesn't mean everyone should get one..... his tattoo is an eyesoar cuz of his pale white skin. On top of that,, 1) its' not centered, 2) it's way too big for the size of his arm and 3) the lines are too bold which once again causes it to stick out like a sore thumb.
I don't think he planned this tattoo, he probably just went into a tattoo parlor and said ok. That's the argument here. I've seen plenty of good and bad tattoos and this false in the terrible category. If you don't understand, then it's probably because you have never had a tattoo or know anyone with one. So go back to your closetworld and hide.
I had that argument here once already. I thought it was a spelling error, the other person thought it was grammatical. I think it depends whether it was a case of wrong word usage (ignorance), or just a misspelling (but the person meant to type the correct version).
Guys, stop saying the tattoo is "ruining him" and all that crap. I think it`s very cool and he should have the right to do whatever he wants. Thumbs up for showing dat Quake spirit!
nice tat. ive long considered getting basically the same exact thing, but have been unable to decide between the classic Q1 quad symbol, or the modernized Q3 symbol.
this will be great to look at when its time to ask the wife "but what about THIS..." :P
The girl I went to is a little higher priced for sure, but I don't like to take chances. She's been doing it for a long time, and really knows what she's doing. It's actually the girl that designed the Nirvana logo, haha. She was the head of graphic design at subpop when they got signed. Lisa Orth, if you want to look her up.
i hate this reasoning, shit will probably look good until you're atleast 60 or older, and by then, you wont look good anyway. loose flabby skin with or without ink in it, it aint pretty.
why dont' you tell the other 20 people who said the same thing in this thread. blind much? oh right, i said it so it's ok to attack me. ok have fun with that.
You're right Ray. I need to start living. I have fantastic career as a Senior C# Developer at the world's largest commercial real estate corporation (a fortune 500 company) a super hot wife of almost 8 years who is amazing (and we couldn't be happier), 3 awesome kids who mean more to me than anything, an amazing house in the Pacific Northwest on almost an acre of land, I work from home full time, and I play in a couple of really fun rock bands. Clearly I need to get a life, cause mine just seems like a huge string of failures now that you mention it.
Ray, I really debated not responding to your comments at all (don't feed the trolls and all that), but I just have to ask, in all honesty and sincerity, is there some reason you have so much hatred towards almost everyone here? Complete strangers even? I just don't get it man. Seriously, what is your motivation? Are you happy? Are you miserable? Are you an elitist? Are you even good at quake (I'm not)?
ask yourself after you attacked me in various other threads. You learned a lesson here. I can get downright nasty if someone pushes my buttons enough. So congratulations on doing that. I might quickly forget who you are though if you distract me long enough so i can get back to more important matters. But replying me with more insults will not result in a different outcome..
btw: best way to get more haters is by announcing you live a fairy tailed life. Very smart.....
Lol, I've never replied to anything you've ever posted (excluding the start of this conversation, obviously). Perhaps you're confusing me with someone else? At any rate, I can tell that all communication with you is an exercise in futility. I hope you have a happy and fulfilling life (not trolling. I honestly hope that you do). gg. You'll never hear from me again.
Cool dude. Personally I think the "evol" is a bit too uhhh graphic? but it's your arm of course. Lol@all the haters, can't respect what someone does to his own arm... Yawn. I like the location too!
Maybe not everyone is stupid enough to risk giving themselves an infection cos they are so obsessed with something they will probably grow out of one day and think what the fuck have I done.
Actually the only people that ask that are emotionally challenged gaming virgin addicts on esreality who project their sexless lives onto others and still regard "getting laid" is the holy grail of their lives.
