DOD:S is garbage. A while back I did a 'showmatch' (I guess you could say) against a DOD:S clan vs my old 1.3 clan. The idea was we play 4 maps - 2 on both games.

Played kalt and lennon I think. The guns felt so dogshit for me on kalt I ended up using an MG (yeah... I know). We still rolled them in both games lol. Why they thought it was a good idea to fuck around with grenades and removing pistols (seriously?) is beyond me... Also 2 hit K98 is lolworthy

Still do the odd pcw in it nowadays but I find the game to be a bit campy these days (and that's coming from a 1.6er's view). The problem is that in order to negate a choke point on a map, you need to either wallbang them or prime a nade and run at them (effectively suicidal). With 1.6 you can get around it with smokes/flashes/wallbang. :[

One of these days I'll get around to coding a csdm style mod for DOD1.3 with random spawns on the map, instant-spawn and FFA because pubs these days are fairly meh... (except for the odd fuck around English one like the guys I play for now - B^R :D)

I agree about the weapon balance on dods. It was close to perfect on 1.3. Axis had 1 hit kar but allies had BAR for the heavies. The maps were perfect : anzio / harrington / chemille / etc so many balanced maps. Dods introduced crates that lay wherever, retarded nades and shitty weapons.

I was so excited when dods came out i ditched school that morning to play it : worst gaming disappointment of my life.

Same. It killed my old clan as well which had like 60+ members and frequent pcws (inner clan battles on a Thursday were like four 10v10 teams a night)

I always saw 1.6 as our closest relative since we share more esport history with them than with any other other. Thus it is no surprise that after more than a decade 1.6 was forced into the same destiny as quake. this video marks the end of their journey for me.
