In short: It depends on your GFX card. There are many cards that can handle dual DVI over Displayport 1.1 with an adapter. Just grab one and try.

Displayport can handle even more than 120hz actually, no worries to be had. All you need is the right adapter.

This one does DVI-D single link only - wiki says "A notable limitation is that dual-mode can only transmit single-link DVI/HDMI, as the number of pins in the DisplayPort connector is insufficient for dual-link connections and an active converter is needed for Dual-Link DVI"

your laptop should be able to handle 120hz through display port. I was wondering that is possible to run it via doc station but according to what is in spec doc station has only single link dvi. So there is only one option buy a displayport to dvi active adapter like this:

but nobody can give u guarantee that will allow u to run ur 2233rz @ 120hz.

btw. that apple adapter is for mini display port.

Yeah but a lot of laptops have mini display ports (even non Apple ones) although I just checked and his doesn't so I should have double checked :)

displayport, really just a burden

couldn't override the company policy and get them to buy something that suits my private gaming addiction better ;)

Displayport is actually far superior to DVI/HDMI as far as video stuff is concerned (the bandwidth is huuuuuuuuuuuge and there's no pixel clock limit, could probably do 240hz@1080p or 120hz@2560x1600 for example).

But if your monitor doesn't have displayport it's quite gay because there's no easy conversion from displayport to other things like there is for VGA/DVI or HDMI/DVI etc.

The new Samsung monitors are the only 120hz ones with displayport I think.
