I think it's mostly ok. You're right we're not 15 anymore and we should man up. Pointless abusive comments should be censored but if someone is being a dick they should be told. I like the part where esr doesn't suffer fools gladly (fools not trolls). But the hard part is getting the balance right.

- you're around here 10 years and have 10k posts, you basicly can do whatever you want. you're basicly out of the woods

- it carries the grouping and a hierarchical structure which absence made the forum quite unique and attractive

- if you really got annoyed by anyone you can use the ignore function which works for the most people if you can handle the curiosity

Problem is that admins don't follow the guidelines of the site and ban/delete users posts for other reasons that they decide to invent. Either follow your own rules or don't have any.

"Censorship" is a stupid idea. But removing posts that have nothing to do with the ESR-spirit could be removed. (All these amagad-cheater;'(( or quake dies now!11-posts for example).

Maybe the admins should put their heads together and figure out what direction they want to go in, in the future, and push it that way by making/allowing content which fits.

I've always experienced ESR as a site where a "mild insult" is considered okay or even funny in some cases, it's what makes ESR ESR. The way people have interacted with eachother over the last 10+ years has become the personality of this website. Imagine if we never had kdawg, Jamerio, you... It would've been one boring website because let's be honest, you can read game-related news on a lot of websites but here people were never afraid to state their opinion in the way they truely mean it.
