What is the reference to Kenya all about? Just wondering.

It's a term used in QuakeWorld to refer to 'custom' maps, or whatever you want to call it.

The term "Kenya" refers to the majority of custom maps which are relatively unknown, since Kenya is a rather remote country. Apparently this one guy kept complaining about playing a map he didn't know, so he said something along the lines of "why do we play kenya map, I want my aero d00d". (well very different, but you get the point) Apparently the issue with people not liking "unknown" maps was just as much an issue back then as it is today.

Nice to see a cup promoting underplayed maps though. Great to see Hipshot`s Industrial map in there, liked that one a lot. Would`ve liked to see a Maverick map though, like phant`s Windsong Keep or bst`s Terminatria. Still cool though!

The process of determining the mappool was indeed more complicated than it usually is. Ct3tourney2 was included in the beta stages, but was left out for some reason..

If this cup turns out well we will probably organize a few more of these, and your map may well indeed get a spot in the mappool next time. :)

That's cool news! ct3tourney2 is a pretty shit map in terms of gameplay. You should take a look at the duel maps here.

What about a CTF(or TDM, CTFS etc) tourney next time, with Kenyas map obviously?
That would be hard to find enough players (maybe for CTFS at least), but really fun.
With 32 players, we can build 8 team (of 4), that's enough for a bo3.

But no one would hire me in his team, never mind. ^^

If this cup proves to be succesful, we will most likely hold more cups. Your suggestion is definitely in.

What do you mean by a "succesful tourney". Depending on this, we can try some stuff.

I mean if only the number of players matter, we need to wake up and bring many ppl.
But if this is the audience, we need to right now spread the information of a new epic tourney through the few forums/websites alive, as i can do on FrenchFragFactory at least.
And if the goal is to attract some new players (but still be quite hard for them to reach the community skill, i know it =) ), maybe, in addition to the prev' point, publish results and make a highlights movie about the tourney.

And i guess we really need a dedicated website for the CPMa community since promode.org is down and dead for a long. Currently it's hard to find news about CPMa, sometimes here, other times on ru website etc.
Maybe use minky's one, dunno.

Anyway, as you can see, I want to help. Unfortunatly, I'm not sure to be able to be raped again on this tourney since I've not a suitable pc available when I want. And create my own, that would be pitiful considering my experience in the community.

I can only speak on my behalf, but I' quite assured Terifire feels the same way.

By "succesful tourney" I meant that it would work out in general. We're hoping for >12 people showing up and playing in the cup.
It is both mine and Terifires first tournament, and we will have to judge the situation as the cup commences.

I've been promoting CPM on different gaming-related sites, for example TeamLiquid.net, but with not much success. I will also try my best and make CPM a bit more known throughout the world.

As for what you suggested for acquiring new players.. Wait until our surprise is revealed. ;)

Your idea of a CPMa dedicated website has crossed my mind hundreds of times, but I have yet failed to make anything productive concerning it. I have absolutely no skills regarding websites and that sorta thing, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am glad to see you're willing to help, but also a bit sad over the fact that you possibly cannot play in the cup.

16 players signed up, that's a good start. I'm sure all will be ok, CPM is just waiting for another occasion to take part in a tourney. ;)

I agree, that's really hard to interest new players. Maybe try to bring some ql stars, that might interest ql addicts. Prev time noctis and fazz have done good outcomes, i'm sure we can bring more of them.

Concerning the website, I can work on it, I only need an host. That's why I always quote minky's website, especially it already get few useful features. He just need a redesign and the addition of new parts, like a news system(i don't think that a forum is necessary). But minky is not really reactive.

Finally, after paying the servers, maybe the community can offer me a new PC. ;)

I'm also very pleased with the amount of signups already. Seeing as it's still a bit over a week away.

I will try to do a bit of advertising today as I have nothing else to do.

What amount amph gave you ? For a complete website, we will need a database.
But that would be great to work with minky's work. I'd like to operate with his stats system (and improve it eventually, I've done a Java application that is sensibly the same idea, but much more complete, maybe we can merge both of the system).
