I would highly suggest people sign up. This community is actually really active and worth checking out. Even if you have never played Doom 2 it can be quite an experience just playing it coming from Quake. It has a pace that is very fast and requires more on the fly thinking than Quake, but doesn't require as much motor skills. The community is great you just need to avoid a couple of characters or keep confrontations with them at a minimum. They all have their little personalities and cliques and usually the same teams win with the same good players but that shouldn't discourage anyone from not trying or playing. The game is very easy to learn and pickup just give it a few weeks.

WTF, doom had ctf? always thought only duell and ffa were played

I don't think it originally had CTF. It was only implented once source ports like ZDaemon and Skulltag were developed as far as I know. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

It was added a while before ST and ZD were developed. But yes, essentially that is correct.
