It's more fun to play than it is to watch, but then, i found myself getting quite bored of the same map quickly... more so than i do in CSS. I hope they introduce new maps (not just old maps) and some of their beta game types during beta.

That game is either:

1) really easy
2) you're pretty good and make it look easy
3) on a server with noobs

Personally I prefer Urban Terror although I haven't played it in 2 years.

Sorry, I can't judge games by only looking at them, I have to feel them to form an opinion, but the video show less "ducking in the corner" indeed (if that's what you mean).

all CS pubs are extremely easy, I haven't played more than 50hrs of each and I'll rape most pubs I connect to, however when I've played with the top level players I get my shit pushed in hard, I'm sure this game is the same way.

I hope that they don't over complicate the maps that they are obviously going to re-release! Dust is a perfect example of how they have added far too much shit in to it I reckon!

If it has the features that DOTA2 currently does, it should be a big hit. DOTA2 is an example of a competitive platform done right.

It depends a lot on how the game actually plays itself. Noone expects a 1.6 graphical update but as long as the recoil, movement, flash bang, hitbox etc. will be the same as in source it will suck as a competitive game.
I still think that it will be a big hit but I hope they listen once to the players who know stuff and not to css boyz :x

Well I never said that I want a remake :P. For instance I'm sad that there won't be russian walking but I can live with it (tho russian walking is teh bomb :() but I couldn't deal with cod/bf recoil, a hunchback like movement, huge hitboxes etc.

CS is a casual game, and the majority of players are casuals. CS is still used at many tournaments, but the actual number of tournaments is small, and the players are making only slightly more than their Quake counterparts. It failed as a competitive game as much as Quake did.

I mean the money you make or made as a CS player is barely enough to cover you living expenses in the west, it might be enough in some eastern european countries, south america, someplace in asia or wherever but not in the west.
Also theres other concerns when you take time off to play a game full time, like what are you going to tell someone in a job interview? As a former athlete in a niche sport people will be understanding for you taking your time off to achieve something and don't kid yourself there's a lot of sports where you just can't make decent money and you'll have to plan ahead for your future. at least there's systems in place for people in niche sports to take time off (e.g. most people don't know that the german armed forces are the biggest sponsor in german sports).

afaik cs players make around 400 or so a month with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 teams who get higher pay. i don't see how anyone could consider that a 'professional' career

You have to spend all that time learning and practicing CS, only to make a wage that is basically slave labor. You would actually be moving up in the world by applying to McDonald's, especially since you actually get job experience at McDonald's, and you have the potential to make manager after a few years.

I gotta agree here. The depth of strategy is more interesting in Starcraft (1/2), in RTS in general, than it is in FPS. More appealing in the long run.

After watching it at iseries a week or so back, it looked terrible but there's no point in judging it just yet imo :P

Nope, I only had the chance to watch it but to be honest. It looks like an over complicated version of Source at the moment (which is a shame seeing as how TERRIBLE Source plays compared to 1.6) and I hope they think about changing that :(

I'll probably buy it when it comes out fully because I really want it to work out seeing as Quake seems to be on its way out, and when it does come out I imagin it will be pretty good seeing as they are putting the same amount of effort into it (if that's how you want to put it) as Dota2 which can only be good! :)

Bought it a few days ago (on both console and PC). Played it a few hours last night on steam.

I tried to read up on the game as much as I could before I started. I even watched many clan matches and analysis of those same matches.

Real or imagined I think I'm aware of many of the gripes the 1.6 community has had, and still has with the game.

Meh, I kinda like it if I have another buddy on. I think TF2 is a much more interesting and variety-rich game to play though. I do not like the feel of the muddy jumping.

I have not done any research to ascertain if the game was designed for consoles first and PC second. It would seem to make sense seeing how there is a massive, and potentially interested audience that can't play CS on the 360 or PS3. But I don't know...
