CPM TDM is the best game I've ever played. I dunno if the armour system and ammo are correct in PQL though, it'd be horrible with VQ3 armour and QL's dumb ammo system.
PQL needs to be fixed before real competition can happen really. There are some acceleration issues which makes you feel like a brick and they need to fix the stairs back to as they were since with the current stairs (ramps) you get proppelled into the air as soon as you hit it with a little bit of speed.
Would love to play some PQL competitions! Ctf or duel would be nice, the movement does feel a bit odd though and I can't do any step jumps like you can in cpm! Not sure if that's the point of it but yea, it feels so strange without the ability to do that!!!
I would definately watch some PQL 1v1 but I'd wait at least 6 months before actually arranging anything too serious. People need to get used to it and practice it first. Meanwhile we need a movie maker to be working on PQL's first epic frag movie. :D send sharpe your frags? D:
Didn't work vs fox, why would it work vs Cypher or strenx? Seriously you are overrating the aim-aspect of the game and/or underestimating Cypher and strenx.
Way to dodge my question, both strenx and Cypher have some of the best raw 1on1 combat abilities in the world and several years of Quake behind them and you think they can't beat some hobby players in a mod that puts more emphasis in actual deathmatch.
The mod doesn't need my protection when your arguments are this retarded.
everybody knows the current top ql duelers would be at the top (hypothetically) in pql. they have the skill and put the effort in. but don't underestimate the handful of cpm and pkers who can hang... gelleh, voo, rat, aph and some others have proven they can handle the competition.
both strenx and cypher impressive aim is result of good handeye coordination AND great positioning combined with weapon selection... both take great angles, they just cant miss...
and guess what? in cpm positioning is half as important as u can switch weapons instantly, picking up a fight u would lose in vq3...
It's nice that you can always come back in any argument dissing the other person's nationality, even when you are proven to be stupid for the 100th time. It would work even better if you didn't happen to be Polish.
I just think that you are stupid, nothing more. You, on the other hand, felt the need to diss my nationality (which is, needless to say, completely irrelevant and doesn't make any sense) to equalize things when I stated that.
Well, as it is, I don't think anyone here really sees a future for competitive QL period, but at least trying something new might spark *some* excitement in the community and prolong its life in the competitive gaming scene, give us a few more tournaments. This could at least provide quake some form of life support until another DM game comes along to take its place.
Reading ESR response about PQL introduction, I really starting to appreciate the fact that this forum is small and meaningless to both id and QL community in general.
I hate any mod altering the physics for the simple fact it's splitting the already very small community.
Let's be honest, the VQ3 physics will always be chosen for the major tournaments so it isn't worth it, PQL isn't going to save Quake.
yeah but there is no harm in people hosting cups for pql. if someone is willing to do it, then let them. it might draw in some new people / increase activity / make id some money
the "split the community" argument is overrated. can just as easily argue it brings in players who'd otherwise not be interested in ql. cpmers weren't necessarily going to be playing vq3 anyway. in my experience a lot of them have preferred games like enemy territory (years ago), sc2 and just inactivity over vq3 and ql.
I still doubt very much having the CPM players play PQL will help the community in any way. Not saying it's a bad thing because it obviously isn't but it's not gonna make any change. It's two different games and having one of them being played a lot won't help the other.
My point is, you are not promoting Quakelive with PQL so it's a waste of efforts as PQL will never go mainstream.
It helps by bringing a spark to the community. It makes some people excited. Some of these people buy pro accounts. This hopefully motivates more interesting updates to the game, which - who knows - may save it. Either way, you don't know yet.
CSN will more than l ikely do a NA PQL event relatively soon to gauge interest and give it a fair shot. No idea if there will be prizes and I dont know what rules would be adjusted, if any, but its being discussed.
