I made one two years ago with the simpleitems-rail icon on the front, and just put a copyright id Software text bellow the sign with very small characters.
Dunno. I'd buy RL and LG in a heartbeat but there's no real FAQ on the site and their first and last blog post is from 2010 so they are probably not active anymore.
I have a buddy who is trying to get into the t-shirt printing business and I asked him to make some of my Quake Live designs. I want a black shirt that has the impressive logo on it :P
Actually if anyone is interested in buying Quake Live themed t-shirts let me know, if there is enough demand maybe I can get my friend to make heaps of them haha.
Silly argument. 99% of people who will wear these t-shirts, are exactly those people who "not be able to draw a straight line", so it's their opinion that is most valuable, while the other 1% can actually be neglected.
there's a difference between "its not for me" and "your design is shit" and for that matter, constructive criticism... if you dont like it, dont buy it, no harm done, thats how the free economy works.
but if youre gonna be all mr i-know-it-all-graphic-designer saying things like "lololo u suck" you better be able to draw a straight line, or else your opinion is worthless.
and this is all what i was saying - that he should not give a fuck about worhtless opinions. constructive criticism, on the other hand, is always good, but this is esr after all :)
Who are you gonna listen to, 99% of potential buyers for your clothes, or 1% of potential buyers for your clothers?
Graphic designers are 1%. You say that opinion of 1% matters more than of 99%?
the 1% of course, because they are expected to know what theyre talking about. when you wanna build a bridge you dont go around asking random people how to build it, do you?
the mass market doesnt know what it wants until it gets it, and companies who have understood that fact are at a huge advantage over those who conduct countless market research studies resulting in 200 different opinions, then try to synthesize some common trait out of the whole mess and come out with products which are designed by committee and suck big time; but at least nobody needs to assume responsibility, since they can point to the market data and say "the market wants it" while it obviously doesnt.
so yea, i wouldnt listen to market research (the "99%") when it comes to mass products, in any case.
The mass market might not know what a good thing is, but they know for sure what they dislike. If 99 people say that product X is crap, you just won't be able to sell X to them, no matter what the one "knowledgeable" guy thinks.
And first sentence of my comment really should be: The mass market might not know what a good thing is beforehand, but they know for sure what they dislike that already exists.
i agree, however you dont know what percentage of the mass market is vocal about their opinion (and this is amplified by the fact that often positive experience isnt voiced while negative is), so if 99 out of 100 people dislike something - fine, but if 99 out of 100000 people dislike something - dont give a fuck.
the only thing that matters is if your product sells or not, not what some people say about it; theres always gonna be a segment that doesnt like something.
so after having released something, change feature x and see if the numbers go up or down - then youll know if youre on the right track. what feature x you change shouldnt depend on mass opinion however (except *really absolutely positively beyond any doubt* the mass 99% of people want that you make red shirts, then by all means make em red).
Yeah, but his point (I think) is that the opinion of a graphic designer will be a better predictor of future sales, than the opinion of a few randoms who make up a tiny subset of your potential customer base.
The 'I <3 quake' shirts were alright. Someone should make one that's more subtle, like a shirt that simply has text on the front saying "Like my shirt? F1 - F2"
Decided to get a shirt. You do send stuff outside of Germany right?
It would be awesome if you could make shirts with weapon logos (like these http://www.be1337.com) and awards like excellent, humiliationt etc. Better just picture with no text
Nice designs, especially the BW ones. Is there any chance you can make a shirt with the plain old Q3 red logo design? A simple LG ammo box design would look awesome too.
There were once Threewave CTF shirts for the red and the blue team, blue and red shirt each with the logo of the team (blitz or hammer), I'd like to see them being made again ... :-)
