Well done, frs! Don't forget to thank akm for building it, looks like it was a hell of a lot work. Seems like a huge and very tactical map to me, with some hard trick jumps. I am really looking forward to these new maps, it'll bring some fresh air into ql tdm.
of course not, he's done everything i asked and more. think he has really pushed the limits of ql map detailing to a new level. i offered to buy him several rounds of beer if we ever meet at DH or some such :D
the map is not that huge once you learn the tricks and routes, you get similar times to travel from pu to pu as on dm14. im gonna do a trick jump video of the latest version once i have the time or wision bothers to record demos :D
In terms of graphics and details, I'm very impressed by this map. It's like watching an improved version of Quake. I love the lighting and texture, which makes a very solid atmosphere. The complexity and size is a bit overwhelming, but it actually adds to the wow effect.
I cannot comment too much on the playability, but at first glance I loved many spots/areas. All I can say is I can't wait to see it in QL. Great job guys!
PS. Doom music is fucking awesome. I got emotional listening to that tune.

That map is just epic. Seems so large but just so cosy and playable if you know what I mean? Anyways, how comes we dont get the .pk3 file to test out :P
TDM needs more of this. Most TDM maps with regards to movement / trick jumping are very bland and unexciting and offer very little opportunity for creativity.
Look how good Quake Live can look, when the map makers spend some time really adding detail to a map. It has a theme, it has well thought out architectural details, it has all the added gameplay elements, it looks amazing.
yeah would have loved to test it ofc, but i've thought about it a lot and tried to mix the elements that make other maps so good. i dont see any glaring imbalances atm so it cant turn out completely crap i hope :D
its not really a super straightforward map so im sure a lot of players will get frustrated with it during the first try or two
I guess it's just time to sort out some old maps which have been played for 10 years now. For me it's really nice to see that the community does so much good work and even provides it for free. It's a shame for id that they still don't support a custom map system, like in sc2 for example. And it's even more of shame that maps like terminus and limbus are kept and holded back by id for years, eventhough (I assume) they have been provided free to them.
It's time to sort out old maps which have been played for 10 years now for 2 years already. What I wondered about is why custom maps have always been ignored on esr in the past.
It's indeed sad things make their way through that slowly at id.
The custom map support is a question of time and money so I can see why there is none.
I don't think id will accept maps for free.
About time maps started showing up on the frontpage when movies has been doing it for years.
Looks good, but there looks like there's alot of annoying small heighdifferences and things sticking out of the walls hindering smooth movement. Probably the cpm'er in me speaking. :P
Cant help it but it looks really huge to me. When checking the level pic the left side seems pretty empty, theres RA, RL (and BS) then nothing till PG and LG, which is near to the SG/YA.Seems pretty spread out, where do you see the 4 primary players?
Quad side seems to have more to offer with 2xSG, 2xYA, RG,RL, GL and prolly the favour of MH.
Thats at least from looking at the pic, maybe it plays different.
its literally just a few strafejumps from red spawn to lg room, and even less from rl to pg. have you ever heard of someone complaining about sg being too far away from red or rl on dm14?
I like how this map is very complex and non-straightforward. Makes for more challenging games imo, and allows for more variety in gameplay. Very reminiscent of Foolish Legacy. Nice work, hope to see it in QL someday. (With an "Advanced" tag to boot) It will be funny to see noctis getting lost in this. :D (no offense big guy, hehe!)

So sad it's still not released. I remember testing it almost a year ago, and it felt fun! Not that huge, how it looks. Not an easy one to learn, but hope it'll be fun ingame.
