Jupiler :D Havent been much to Amsterdam but in my city i always drink jupiler which is a dutch beer, tho almost every beer in NL is fine in my opinion, as for good places, like i said i havent been much to Amsterdam but when i was there i went to the Bulldog, a coffeeshop and it was good:D

As for the red light district, dunno what to explain, they are just in some areas and next to the streets..

they do, you can also buy it. but still it's not legal. police just don't punish you for possesion or purchase of small amounts

what i never understood is how the owners of the shops don't get prosecuted and prosecuted until there's no business left. i mean the owners must buy in large (illegal) quantities right?

I've been there for the new year, it was awesome. You should try some coffee shops :-)
You can trip along the town by foot, it's really nice, but be careful to the bikes tought :).

All beers are quite good, still, I do not agree with gooda; Jupiler is pee.

I didn't go into some clubs, since it was new year everybody was in the streets, it was awesome. fireworks all over the place. Still, i remember Amsterdam people are really nice, so you can ask them anything you want. (Actually, I saw a club named: cockring . true story. Don't know if its your thing ;))
You can easily go into a pub or a coffee, and talk to people who tell you some nice places.

A place I remember is abraxas. http://www.abraxas.tv/ even if you don't smoke you will have good time :)

Although, depends how long you stay, but they are some really nice museum in there. Should take a look.

HF dude, if you stay more than 1-2 days, do not hesitate to buy a guide or something like that, cuz they are many things to do around there =)

1) Go to the Heineken musuem it's a good place to start getting drunk for the night.

2) You have some clubs.. But they all looked the same to me in terms of crappy music well.. maybe I just din't looked in the right places.. there were alot of nice girls thought = D

3) I think they close a little early from what I can remember 3/4 am

I ve been to Amsterdam in the last four years as group leader. It was a round trip in Europe for exchange students (17-18 years old). I always pray for god to survive Amsterdam with 30 "kids" It is impossible to keep them away from the coffe shops. :))) So far so good no harm done to anybody.

you cant miss it, it's a three storey big ass building with green neon 'grasshopper' written on most sides, just next to the canal as you come out the train station, coffeeshop is in the basement.

There is a coffeeshop called Militia, you should try it.
