truly entertaining but, being ignorant about the mechanics, I often feel I can't appreciate those entirely unfortunately.
Even worse for SC2 games, sometimes the streamers go apeshit but I have no clue what's going on.
The same basic principles, we find in FPS can be found in RTS and Beat'em up games: positioning, timing, dodging, prediction, and know when to attack and defend.
I thought it was a bit different tho?
In BeatmUps: knowing all characters move, the reach of those, juggling and so forth
In SC: all single units (which I totally ignore, hence my inability to understand the games) , possible setups, the whole metagame strategy etc
At least quake duel ( and fightning games such as SF) is far from being impossible to understand for someone who has never played it: rules are very simple, and the only thing they might ignore is the map and the weapons damage, whereas SC2 just makes no sense whatsoever unfortunately
