I'm considering to sign up, but I feel insecure that my CPMA is installed right. My friend has a pirate copy of Q3. Can he participate with that copy without any problems whatsoever? He is really shy to ask for himself :P

In theory Quake 3 is only illegal nowadays if you obtained the file pak0.pk3 using torrent or by browsing google. Not that it has concequences for participating in this tourney either way, 99 percent of all players has an illegal copy of q3... be sure to have a valid cdkey file before you join any server btw

Pirated copy doesn't matter in q3 and I am pretty sure that a lot of quakers have a copy of q3 they didn't buy (especially now the source code has been released and ioquake3 is out as well). That percentage goes up to 100% when you look @ Poland.

CDKeys are legions on Google, that's not a problem.

Just have a working CPM 1.48, a Quakenet account, and a decent connection.

Today I played against people who swear they are beginners, (and intend to sign up) when in fact they are not. It's either them coming from another game mode like CA, (mastered movement & aim) or they are having a fake nick. Every "beginner" I have played today have his movement aced or aim or both.

I'm a beginner, I think I can tell the difference, and how can a newbie to CPM nail 40% shaft and 60% rail while cjing around with 600 ups? If the people who will sign up are these kind of faggots then fuck this to hell. As a true beginner (2-3 months) I find this quite offensive. Well some people just wanna win I guess.

I started playing 5 days ago, I hope that there will not be players that have been playing for years but there is not much we can do to stop them.

I have never played cpma until today. I will sign for the cup and you should too. Just ignore the dickheads instead of boycotting a cup designed to players like us.

It would be nice if this cup would run in parallel with another cup with prices. Then wannabe pros could play there instead.

Yeah, it's about fun, but it would be useful for new players to see others new players fighting instead of watching "pros".But they will watch the good ones anyway.

While there maybe/probably are some CPM veterans being assholes and pretending they are newbies it's not impossible for people new to CPM to shaft 40%, etc, etc. I mean, some Q3/QL pro is CPM newbie... but it wouldn't be hard for him to hit 40% shaft against other newbies who don't know how to move fast.

Well...there is not much i can do. If i don't know the name, i will let him play. If i know it I will decide if he is noob enough to play. That's it.

I meant that if someone complains about a level too high during the tourney, you could spectate him and determine whether he can play or not.

I could but it is not what I like to do...kicking someone in the middle of a tourney and giving default wins. It would have to be some real pro to be kicked. Even if movement and aim are good, it can be still noob. But there is no point to discuss it now. Let's wait for the cup;)

Maybe, if there are enough players, you can divide the tourney in two parts, one for really new ppl, and the other for the low-level, but not new to CPM.

That's a problem we've seen about this tourney, the goal, I guess, is to bring some new players, which can be totally new to Q3. However, some beginners can't play on the real tournaments without being raped, and will, in the same way, rape true-new ppl.
So, that's not really attractive for the new ones.

Ppl of the QW community did the same thing a few month ago, 3 classes of players for 3 different tourneys. Dunno if it has worked fine.

Anyway, this is just a suggestion, it still be your tourney, and thank you to share your time for new players.

Was a great cup, I really enjoyed it, even though I arrived late and due to this unfortunate event I couldn't play. Streaming and spectating was hella fun too tho. :)
