i have a super secret leaked cypher cfg from before quakecon, where his settings are
seta sensitivity "7"
seta m_yaw "0.013"
seta m_pitch "0.021"
seta cl_mouseSensCap "0"
seta cl_mouseAccelOffset "5"
seta cl_mouseAccel "0.672"
he may have gone back to his previous settings though.
If by seeking specifically "recent" config you assume that he changes it constantly, then why the hell you need a config that is not perfect and requires constant tweaking?
cypher send me his config on the first of december 2010. this is what hes got:
r_mode 9
pitch and yaw 0.018
sens 4.25
mouse accel .1
pretty standard. i know that he recently upped his fov but other than that everything is pretty much the same as i recall. he may have upped his sens slightly (due to higher fov maybe)
after dissappointing IEM perfomance he made a completely new cfg right before UGC and havent changed anything major after that
UGC cfg: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11777259/81494-Cypher.7z
at Dreamhack Summer his cfg was uploaded aswell but as far as i remember it was Amai's cfg
Sure I can understand gfx, fov and other visual things that might give you an upper hand is interesting. But wouldn't it be enough to say that he's a high / low / mid sens player?
Imo you'll play with the sens you feel comfortable with, which in the end is more important than anything else.
I see in_mouse 2 in the configs I have for him from latest dreamhack. It is weird that he uses offset 5 though. Well maybe not too weird because k1llsen uses it too.
I don't know if they are intentionally doing it, or just never updated their configs since the default was changed from 5 to 0 (and it became effective because mouseaccelstyle was deprecated)
The only interesting thing for me about cypher's cfg are the REAL mouse settings he uses, since I also have razer Abyssus (with my own settings obviously).
I think players don't say exactly their real settings, 'cause I tried sometimes configs from razer abyssus players (cypher and cooller) and I think it was diferent from what they uses looking forward to videos like "cypher playing" and seeing what happens in the screen when he moves his mouse (being different to what happens in mine having 99% same settings).
When they say they use 450 dpi and I test, I think it's too low compared to what we see live or in videos recorded at LAN's (DH, QCon...), and I switch mouse to 1800dpi and it's too high...
At the end I use my own settings but it's just cool to have the same settings as them to figure out how they do their crazy movements and aim... so I'm looking forward to DH11 Winter cypher's config! Hope it will be up soon!
Its just what they're used to and comfortable with I guess (not that they can't have copied techniques from others as well though), maybe try not to copy their sens, but set your sens so you can aim like that comfortably. Or if you want to copy them exactly, I think a lot of it comes down to how you hold the mouse, how often you lift it up and how far you sweep it, also how you sit, theres lots to it, the sens/accel is just the beginning.
Interesting.
I also use an abysuss and like a few others I have found it preforms better at 1800 dpi than at 450 dpi (try it!). I
have also messed with that razor mouse configurator and set the sensitivity slider to 2.5 (default value is 10) in order to maintain the same in-game values as when i was using 450 dpi. While regarding the sensitivity everything was fine, I have been having a problem finding the correct equivalent mouseaccel settings since converting the dpi. I ended up useing this mouse sensitivity/accel/etc calculator (http://www.funender.com/quake/mouse/index.html) to calculate my "real accel" value at 1800 dpi and then dividing it by 4 in order to get the same mouseaccel value I was using on 450 dpi to 1800 dpi and the slider set to 2.5. My calculation was probably still wrong though, so if anyone knows the correct method to convert mouseaccel from different DPI values while taking the razer driver settings into consideration, please by all means share.
Btw I remember that during cypher's prime Q3 years (2008-2009) when he was still using a WMO 1.1a his settings were as following:
You're working your accel out wrong. If you're upping your DPI by 4 X the amount (like 450dpi and 1800dpi on the abyssus), sensitivities are divided by 4, but accel value is divided by 16 (but the accel offset is still divided by 4). If you're lowering your dpi, it's the complete opposite obviously.
Lets use my Razer Abyssus settings as an example:
450 dpi with
3.2 sens
4.2 sens cap
1.6 accel
1.25 accel offset
is...
1800dpi with
0.8 sens (3.2 % 4)
1.05 sens cap (4.2 % 4)
0.1 accel (1.6 % 16)
5 accel offset (1.25 X 4)
@ Anon, 100% positive. I switched DPI ratings a few months ago and I was having serious troubles working it out, until someone (I forget who) linked me to an article (I forget where) explaining it all. Figured it all out in a matter of minutes.
The settings I used as an example are my settings that I went from and to. They both feel identical, and my cm/360 is the same.
Yes you are right. I was using an accel value of 0.08 on 450 dpi and after switching to 1800 dpi I used the calculator in the link above and set it to 0.005. But when i changed DPI i had also changed the sensitivity slider in the "razor mouse configurator" (the mouse driver) from its default value of 10 to 2.5 in order to keep the same desktop sensitivity. What happened was that my accel felt different (much lower) after I changed the sensitivity in the mouse driver. I use a pretty low accel value as at is and cl_mousesenscap too (which didn't need to be changed) so the whole thing might have been placebo.
what I can't figure out is how the much driver sensitivity effects mouseaccel if at all. Anyways, since I had divided my driver sensitivity by 4 I just multiplied my mouseaccel value by 4, which made it fell more true to what it originally was. Do you know if the mouse driver sensitivity affects accel in anyway? I also use raw mouse input if its relevant.
I honestly have no idea. Can I ask why you're using the software though? The abyssus is made to be driverless isn't it? I thought that was the perks over the deathadder. I don't use any software for my abyssus - I'm pretty sure you don't need it.
I agree. Uninstall the driver. It's not needed for the abyssus. Plus, windows sens doesn't affect the sensitivity if you use in_mouse 2 faerie. I can have my windows sens on 1/11 or 11/11 and it doesn't change my in game setting.
