I like how people looked down on instagib tourneys for years and suddenly it becomes the next big esports title. It's boring to spectate and so simple that casters are really not needed for this game. If the twitchtv tournament was an indicator of how interesting to watch this game is, I don't think I will be watching a lot of competitive gaming in the future.

Proper played UT iCTF is still exciting :D! It's true the gamemode is not as demanding as normal weapons, because it only focuses on one weapon. Now I wonder how Shootmania will turn out.

Just last week Dreamhack Summer was gearing up to be great.
Given that we're starved of these events just now, I think everyone was pretty excited about this forthcoming tourney.

we have Cypher, Avek, Strenx and Stermy all playing Shootmania??

(I know Cypher and Avek are still attending Dreamhack)
If they're helping Strenx through friendship or a chance to make some cash - then fair enuff - I can understand that..
but are these players actually searching for something to replace Quake?
or is it just that their new team are making them attend?

All we need now is for 2GD to give up coverage of Quake and there really will be nothing left.

I can only hope Reborn happens, or Quake 5, but I think 2GD making a game has a higher chance.
