When I get my hands on some decent bandwidth (read: not shit), I'd happily turn off picmip. As it stands, it's the only way to get the stream somewhat watchable at the moment.

Q2 is old, that is true!
I must agree that I think the streams pakfiles are a bit low texture + resolution. This is mostly due to his bandwidth and it does look very crap to be honest.

I use higher quality textures and anti aliasing x8 @ 1680x1050 and then you actually do see the lines and curves :) You can also use other clients that have basically Q3/QL graphics as well. I just never really bothered to try.

Haha the underwater rg "grotto" was a tough installation! Somebody almost drowned reinforcing the entrance.

sometimes you see that dahang and purri come from q2, the strafing looks like snake movement in q3 ql :)

well in quakelive you have the splash damage rocket trap / bouncing effect, when hit ppl cant move in the air.

I suggest to watch the ptrip game, it's really fucking nice imo :)

how easy is it to install mods to make the game look like this.. aside from the picmip?

You are allowed to modify your .pak files (to some extent - not size) that are located in your Quake 2/baseq2 directory. This includes sounds, textures, models etc.

The .pak file you are referring to is most likely from the streams? This means you have to ask 'Jehar', the person who streams this particular game for his .pak files. In general there are a lot of .pak files out there which you can download and then use a tool called pakscape to edit these files. This is not hard, but if you never have done it I would just recommend to get someone else's pakfile/s and configs.

I'm a bit lost where to get these things today. Perhaps someone can fill us in to help, or let me know if you want to try mine and I'll upload them for you.

Though... hm... not to take anything from winner (at the moment he obviously is the best Q2 player), but I just feel skill level we saw in these games was lower than that in some earlier finals. Especially from tactical standpoint.

Dunno, I just like more cerebral Damiah's style and when he was at his best he also forced Purri (and Provi and Syanid) to step up their game.

Im sorry for bringing up this topic here but i just cant help myself...the rocket launcher in quakelive is a total bug or a fucking joke...i love the game engine otherwise but when i switch to that weapon i get so extremly frustrated by all the dancing around crap and dont die by 3 to 4 really close rl:s.Im actually done playing it because of this...
