How would you rate their smoooothness? Are they the smoooothest of their kind?

i like a bit of friction for my pad. and i once went to get a goliathus speed. was way to smooth. felt like silk. disgusting

goliathus is smooth as shit, much smoother than qck.. had both.

I would try a QCK+ and use it along with some glides or something. If you want a really smooth mousepad that isn't 'hard', you may have a tough time finding one.

Zowie G-TF is fastest, but I think its "too" fast. Hien is just a little slower, but its faster than Puretrak Talent and A LOT faster than QcK. Best way is to try them yourself though.

The problem with trying them myself is that good mousepads aren't really sold in stores, and I certainly don't have the money to buy every mousepad ever and compare them.

I was a little afraid of the G-TF being too fast, but I'd like to try that extreme and see what it's like. If the Hien is only a little slower, I might try that, though I've seen some bad things about it (it only lasts a couple months being one of them).

Artisan Shidenkai SOFT L, Artisan Hien SOFT L. Maybe a QPAD CT, but Artisan is better.

I bought the Artisan shiden kai xsoft L and my experience wasn't very smooth at all, with a fresh set of hyperglides to boot! My old as shit Talent still remains the only pad I'll use.

Artisan Hien is fast and cloth. Switched from icemat and won't ever go back. Best pad I've used hands down.

In my little Google adventure, I read that the Hien wears out exceptionally quickly, and is unsafe to wash unless you're really careful (as in, a tiny bit of soap and really light scrubbing kinda thing).

It's not as smooth as icemat, actually kinda rough (but to me it 'feels' better than glass anyway since its cloth).

I'm using stock wmo feet because I prefer a little bit of friction nowadays and after a couple of months heavy use its still the same all over.

It feels like a slightly hard, rough cloth pad that's almost as fast as the icemat. If you think you might prefer a little bit of friction for control (its still fast though) then its perfect, but if you're after a more direct icemat replacement then go for the shiden. Another thing I like about the Hien, however, is that when you place it down, it sticks to your desk like some kind of adhesive and rips off like velcro. The only problem with it for me is that it's not stocked in Europe so I have to buy it from overseas, which makes it expensive. And that's not really a flaw of the mouse pad. I don't know, it would be difficult for me to give a review without sounding like I'm trying to sell the product :)

thing is icemat is great but personally i got 2 problems with it:
1. lack of comfort(which i didn't think would ever be a problem) is getting tiresome after 1-2 years, sometimes i grab my goliathus and just put my hand on it, feels good :D
2. destroys feet gradually, which leads to inconsistency and actually made me change sens/accel all the time. never rly managed to solve this, i tried mousetape.com for example but found those quite crap sadly. i actually prefer worn down feet, easier flicks stoppability, but for lg obviously no.

also artisan seem to sell glides too, circle and donut shapes, i need new feet so might as well get those i guess.

1. hien can be too abrassive to your pinky finger ( assuming it's hanging to right side of your mouse and touches the surface ), shiden can grab against your skin due to its coating, happens with icemat too, but atleast shiden is much softer, talent / hayate can occasioanlly feel sticky as well, out of all these pads i prefer zowie g-tf comfort wise AND glide wise

2. get feet from slicksurf.com, they're said to be very durable and consistent !

glaspad stone and aluminium tryed em all. in combination with teflon the shit is so fly ur arms will get ripped off and gain so much speed that it will travel back in time and kill hitler.

my artisan hayate was supersmooth when it was brandnew. not so smooth anymore since it collected bit of dust. maybe if you look after it properly it will stay smooth. i havent cleaned mine yet.

And which pad is easiest to clean? NP+ and G-TF are waterproof so it means you can clean them with water use after few minutes?

Similar to that Lian-Li Aluminum pad, but with a lot better measurements and way thinner.

I ordered a Steelseries 4HD 3 days ago to replace my worn out Razer Destructor. But it still didn't get shipped. So I don't know if I should test the 4HD first or to go for the alugraphics pad.

I own an aluminum/plastic compound pad before (the Razer exactmat) I liked it although it was a bit cold

It seems like there are more people saying the Puretrak Talent is best though, so I'm leaning more towards that.

PureTrak Talent sucks. 1. If you push your mouse 'too hard' on the pad it will reduce your speed / create more friction which is really annoying because you won't move your mouse with a constant speed. 2. If the mousepad absorbs any liquid it loses it smoothness.

Talent is one of the worst mousepads ever made imo :-P

I've been using a Talent for around 3 years now and love it. It's still as consistent as day one and gives you PLENTY of room. I play everything from LoL to CS 1.6 and QuakeLive

Not sure why the guy above says that if you push the mouse down on the pad it creates friction... well of course it will! Why would you push down on your mouse at all? And if you spill anything mate just wash it and it'll be like new again.

Artisan makes good products but they're not worth the money especially for what else is out there.

another vote for the talent here. i really think that all of artisian's pads are horribly overpriced and have mediocre build quality. the ones that have good built quality are $60 which they can go scratch if they think im spending that on a pad that costs $5 for them to make

it doesnt seem like u need an ultra smooth pad with ur high sensitivity. also since u say uve never tried a good pad, i would really start with a good but cheap one. like a qck+. buying an expensive pad off the start would be a mistake imo.

ps: ive used a qck+ and a corepad eyepad (which is what im on now), i was happy with both. the only problem is that if ur hands sweat a lot and ur room gets dusty (mine does altho i have no idea how), then after a while the feel of the pad changes, for me it actually becomes smoother (guessing this is cos the sweat + dust flattens the fibers down). going to try out the talent this week.

artisan hien is especially sweat resistant, when i play in a really hot room and sweat, my mousepads used to feel weird (especially the plastic ones) but artisan hien feels the exact same every time. It's why i use it over my goliathus. The rubber backing on hien is also like fucking glue, that anonymous posting shit about $5 pad is so full of shit, its just fucking pure japanese craftsmanship, its brilliant.

Just take care of it, and it will last. I use slicksurf pads, not super smooth but it will never change its glide feeling, or fuck up my mousepad because of a sharp edge or it wore down without me knowing. it's made from the same shit that is used to make dice.

Puretrak talent is the smoothest, i'm using it now, and wont change for sure.

Depends how smooth your shit is. Some nights after a curry you'd be better of using sandpaper as a mousepad

I can highly recommend the Zowie Gear SpawN mousepad.

It is a cloth pad, but weaved in some kinda plastic fiber which makes the mouse slide a bit more smoothly than on a Goliathus or Mantis which I used to play on.
