well... it could have been better at all. I dont like the idea of the ingame cfgs. No special things (apart from the last scene).. just frags, Okay, Hell5pawn always chooses good music, and he knows how to connect it with the videomaterial... but thats all. It seems like lack of want for investing enough time for the movie, dunno. Its no real Afterspray for me :)

Sorry to be negative, but the low FOV ruined this for me. Fullscreen it was completely unwatchable, and even in a little Youtube window it was pretty uncomfortable.

Ah I just read the bit about the configs, I had wondered why the FOV seemed to change! It's a cool idea, but for me you would need to, like, add +10 to everyone's FOV just to make it more comfortable to watch.

I have to agree that the FOVs were too low in general. However, I think it's a cool idea to use the player's config, I actually really liked it! A bit too short though.

While some 90-95 fov's are hard to watch - the idea it self is very cool and and actually very useful for people who want a certain config look (so they can just copy the one the liked).

Loved the individual configs, made all the frags more personalized. Didn't really give a crap about the low FOV since you got to see how it actually looked to the player when it happened. I also loved the music and how you orchestrated the frags. GJ :D

Loved the idea of the configs, however I think it could've been executed better. It was a bit confusing with a new config for every frag. Maybe it would've been better to have all frags from one player shown before moving on to the next player so you get used to each config. Also, I would've liked the FOV to stay constant throughout the movie.

Other than that, great job. Enjoyed it alot!

I like short movies, re-rendering it with 0 picmip and 110 fov would make it a 8.5 in my book, now i wont post it in my local gaming forum, looks to blocky and theres no constrast black is grey, properly configured (picmip, post processing, etc) ql looks pretty good, a little blur too. Keep them coming...

i just dont get it. how could he move so good? changing fov's constantly must fuck your movement really, i mean REALLY bad.

i used to switch fov from weapon to weapon. now i just play with 90 fov and use special zoom (not 50-45, but around 60-65) during lg-fights. basically, you need low fov only for lg. you can hit rails properly with 90 fov.

ive used a lot of different config settings.
fov change per weapon and all.. doesn't really affect my movement. as long as you dont use like 120 for RL and 90 for Rail.. but thats how i see it :)

personal performance

The guy who made the movie is not using the correct HUD for my config. When my config is in an actual game it looks almost identical to cyphers in gfx and "feel" as I can sit down and play perfectly with Cypher's sensitivity and everything. I have different crosshairs on different weapons which doesn't show either.
It's not that I have set this all up on purpose me and him just realized this when we compared cfg on some lan long ago.

P.S It's orginally based on "Jibo the great's" cpma vq3 config so ur point is invalid as he is the ruler of everythink.

To be honest I had no idea that one has to increase FOV to compensate for widescreen resolutions. It makes sense when I think about it now though. My bad. On the otherhand I'm wondering why wolfcamql doesn't do that by default. I mean, nobody makes 4:3 videos nowadays. It's the first time I see someone meantion having to increase FOV while making a movie, no movie making guide says anything about it. Heck, this means all my previous videos didn't have 110 FOV as they supposed to have. I don't know what to say actually, heh.

that should help you with the fovs

and the Weapon GunZ value goes down by a value of 1 for every 5 degree of fov above 90.

so say you used 125~ fov to get 110 effect you would have to increase the gunz by 3 to make the gun look the same as 110 on 16:9

Afterspray did have 110fov btw because it was done without wolfcam and so did zero and seventeen, however pixelbeat was ~95.

Basically Q3 and most Q3 engines besides QLs scale the fov horizontally so if you set 110 in Q3 or wolfcam for that matter in 1:1 res you get 110x and 110y now with 4:3 you get less y and even less with 16:9, and the vertical fov seems to govern most of the depth perception, so to get the same depth perception as 4:3 in 16:9 you need to increase your fov higher so the x value becomes a fairly high value ( so in 110's case ) 125 and the y fov is 94.5~.

on the other hand QL scales fov vertically with 4:3 as the reference giving you the correct fov feel from 4:3.

No guides mention it because there are no "moviemaking" guides, rather the ones out there mainly help with setting up and recording footage, but not with actual visuals like FOV.

I was aware that QL and Q3 handle FOV differently, and that Q3's way was "worse", but It had been bugging me for over a year that I didn't know exactly what was wrong. Now I do know, so if you would like, I could add it to my thread and maybe make some random page full of misc. infos (probably on http://wolfcamql.fr/en/). I'm just really lazy and probably won't finish it.

Was an original idea to use personal configs, but the FOV changes got annoying pretty fast. Would have been better if you used the different config but kept the fov fixed and of a more typical figure for movies.

Overall, wasn't a great video to watch for me.

It was good except for the fovs, but with the authentic configs you can't help it. Was short for my taste, would've loved it around 5 mins.
