This is it. The end of over a decade long professional eSports in Korea as we know it. With first OGN Starcraft 2 Starleague right behind the corner, we are left with one last look at professional Brood War at it's best.

This year's finals is a reprisal of last year's in which JangBi completed Legend of the Fall against Fantasy to seal his first ever OSL title which left

Fantasy in the Kong Line.

Starting tomorrow from 04:00 CDT we will find out if

JangBi becomes only protoss alongside Garimto to win two OSL titles and repeats a feat only matched by BoxeR and Jaedong - to win a back-to-back OSL title. Also, this is the last chance for

Fantasy to break his Kong curse and become immortalized as the last Brood War OSL champion ever.

Update:

JangBi takes home the last Brood War OSL ever in what proved to be a complete rape of

Fantasy! Well done \o/ GG NO RE. Fantasy remains King of Kong.

Get everybody to tune in - your friends, your girlfriend, your brother and even your grandmother. It's likely that we won't see such skill displayed in an esport live for the next 10 years, as these are the last top tier BW progamers to deliberately practice BW full time.
I'm joining the group of spectators that are going to root for BW tommorow.

To be honest - why, why do they cancel BW tournaments at all? Which other game, has such a long running community also on a high professional level in terms of mental ability, they show great athletic abilities and sportsmanship.

SC2 may be looking better, but it's still not patched enough to have a certain in-game balance iirc?

*edit*: I don't refer to all this fancy show, to all the sponsorships and other money these players receive, but especially on the sportive aspect, where these individuals have to hit their performance limit and were gone beyond.

*edit 2*: Will there still be enough players to play some SC:BW, or are all quitting because there won't be this kind of big league tournaments anymore?

bw had maybe 3 balance patches over 10 years. players did the rest on their own.

In terms of balance, it's getting there, but still has a long ways to go. Fast approaching Heart of the Swarm release will probably set it even further back. I don't think it's a stretch to say the game will only truly become balanced a year or two after Legacy of the Void gets out.

I wonder as well about this quick switchover. I think BW could easily sit comfortably alongside SC2 for a couple more years. It's probably all business related.

just saw your bw question, well basically - china osl is coming up, you can always play scbw on iccup, there's a lot of tournaments going on... or if you feel comfortable with lagspikes - play on fish. :>
