Something that was brought up by multiple people like carmac and 2gd etc is that it's alot more sustainable for a game to have such a huge prize pool broken down into more smaller events throughout the year so teams and players can have more regular income rather than risk a whole years practise to not win anything at all. I mean if they can do money like this all the time then good on them :P But chances are it will be just another Painkiller where it has big prizes but a small community.

Merc Ops is the American team that contains professional CS players on them, they've been practicing and preparing a lot for this tournament. They've been playing at a ping disadvantage against European teams, but their chemistry is where it should be. They know what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong, they're smart on attack, and their defense is tight. This leads me to Millenium.

Don't be surprised if these Quake "dream teams" don't do as well as you'd think the would, Shootmania is a different game, and it shows.

I expect Merc Ops to advance first out of their group, and either ADK or Cowln for the other group (it's just too close to call for me).

The game is different from Quake. Both CS and Quake share similarities with Shootmania. I'm not saying they're going to beat them, just don't be surprised if they do. Merc Ops plays very well, Millenium is composed of good players, but that doesn't mean it makes them a good team. Positioning is huge in SM, and CS focuses on that a lot. Maybe time to change history?

That's because there hasn't been a reason for any top or experience NA FPS players to start playing the game....

Remember when CPL announced the million dollar Pain Killer world tour? Everyone and their mother started to play despite most strongly disliking the game.

I haven't played in a couple months and unless there have been drastic changes I can't imagine it's any better to spectate...that had always held my attention span for less than a minute. From my understanding this was the general opinion of people from other genres of games as well. When it came to playing it, I had a bit of fun for 20-30 minute sessions over a few different attempts at enjoying the game, but always asked myself why am I wasting my time playing this instead of quake? I don't foresee this tournament producing any sort of large spectator base, but I guess we shall see.

They should be careful with that prize pool, if SM fans will be motivated to go and play, stream could be left with no viewers at all.

Like maza said, don't you guys think in ql duel there is too much spam? I think there should be either weapon s respawn in 5 seconds or lots of ammos (for instance 25 rockets max like it's now), not both.

As far as I'm aware NADEO have paid out all current prizemoney, including that of Gamescom right after the grand finals to eclypsia and team-dignitas via cheque. I cannot think of another sponsor that has done this at an event that I've personally been involved with for a long time. So in that respect I've had no bad experience with NADEO, they've treated me and other players extremely well and if the money is coming directly from them, i see no reason to believe that it would not be paid.

I find it deeply concerning that people don't understand that it's coming from Ubisoft and that they probably paid at least twice this amount to get it into IPL. And it's not one bit concerning that they do this(except for Ubisoft ofc ^^) Considering the game has no players and NO stream viewers.. It scares me that people have to ask this question. That is what concerns me.

The game will obviously not take of.. There were alot of promises about feedback getting implemented, but NONE of these things ever got into the game and much worse, they started going in the opposite direction. They have no clue what they are doing, and that the game was decently fun to play for 2 weeks was obviously nothing but a fluke.

However I suggest anyone that wants free cash and a trip to play it. With some dedication you can easily catch up in 2 weeks..

We took the input and some were surprised of the output at the moment they were doing the inputs.

We have reduced many things at start in order to stabilize many parameters that were not optimal for further grow. The sooner was the better for us, in order to avoid too many players to adopt visibly positive things that would be a threaten the lifetime of the game. For example, you have to take into account that many competition or qualifier are happening online, and have to reduce some dependencies on the ping in order to open door to netcode improvement for later.

In fact, we can go in deeper, richer and more fast paced directions, but we need to go carefully since we have to build a solid game that have as much strength as possible, even for competition. We went toward other direction than some first feedback for good reasons, but it does not mean that we will not be able to take them into account at some point. Patience is required to build something solid and ready for a long time.

To say it simply to Fazz: we will implement your feedback, but with the respect of other constraints. And there are no constraint directly opposed to skilled players desire. Many people make the mistake between easy and accessible. Football is not easy, but it is accessible. We want the game to be like that. So, the goal is to find the best way to implement pro players desires without preventing to hurt some key points for the game. And they are much more numerous than only accessibility.

Making a game is complex and making a game for eSport is even more full of constraints: spectator, ecosystem of amateur/pro, cheating, online competitions, offline competitions, matchmaking, level evaluation, fairness in all cases, team management etc.

Until then, we will open up the game slowly but surely, and make moves in the direction required to make the competition the most interesting as possible at the highest level as possible.

We are less than in the middle of the beta of a new FPS. When it will be ready, the Elite mode will be open to everyone for free and both gameplay and rules shall be deep enough to have years of FPS eSport at the best level as possible. It means paying attention of having a constant stream of new amateur spectators, players and pros.
