the last release (before this one) provided the exactly same performance between windows 7 and some distribution of linux which i dont remember..

When the disclaimer explaining said claim is longer than the press release...you know they are puffing their chests up about not too much.

The claim is they doubled the frame rate on L4D2 on a high end i7 system. So they spent a lot of time optimising the driver for Source based games on linux due to Valve releasing Steam on linux.

Woohoo, "double performance" attained.

Ofc it's great that these software/hardware giants are putting more resources into linux (Nvidia have always been great with regards to linux driver support anyways..); I just hate bogus claims like this.

If they had increased performance twofold on a series of games which run upon both OpenGL and DirectX, then this claim would have merit.

I hate marketing.

Well we still haven't seen any comments from people trying these drivers and reporting how much better it is for them. It probably won't be much better but I'm still curious.
