i have artisan hien, for me personally it just annoys me that i see so much dust on my pad after a week but im wondering how often should i wash it,, if i wash too often will it wear down the cloth?
I use a very soft shoes brush to remove the dust on the pad.
If you don't have spots or as long as you just have dust on it, it's not necessary to wash it imo.
if you brush out the dirt with shampoo or something..in the tub..you will be disgusted what comes out after some month. i think pads need to be washed..otherwise filthy
i have a steelseries something plain black cloth, super cheapo, its about 3 mm thick and 450 mm wide and 400mm high and I usually cleaned it every 2 months, and it caused problems since a clean cloth pad doesn't have such friction as a nice dirty one, well I tell you its kinda shiny now from the filth but it does the job wonderful
Same way as suggested above. There is no specific procedure depending on the brand. I have QCK Heavy and what I do is place the mat on a flat surface, get it wet in warm water, put some washing liquid and in circular motion using any kind of brush it makes it like new. It's just some rubber foam in between the cloth surface and rubber non slippery surface. It takes a while to dry especially if you don't leave it outside to speed up the process.
I have a harder surface artisan - shiden, and mostly dust it off. They have more instructions on their website, I have found selecting a good soap tricky though. http://www.artisan-jp.com/item_maint_eng.html
I've put my QCK Heavy in water for 3 hours, put soap on it and did circular motions with a soft sponge (was afraid to damage the texture with a brush). I left it drying all night. I wake up and it's like it was before. The areas where I place my mouse the most are worn out and not black-clean.
