Just saw it on tv, it had everything! Backflip, well executed, def guy not able to stop it :D he may not be Messi but he certainly is master of scoring memorable goals.
Austria has 10 top players who play important roles in their clubs (not unlike 1998), only missing a really good goalie, but finally having a great coach was a big step for the team
before we got Koller, the strong old-schooler fraction always wanted one of "them" as a manager, but the only achievement those guys have was being decent [bold]player[/bold] in 1970
Well, just look at how high he goes with his foot, the perfect power to address the ball into the goal(30 meters!), nontheless the fact he's moving in the opposite direction of the ball and that it doesn't bounce.
I mean, if you played football you'd know it's extremely difficult to score this goal.
I'm curious now, could you post a goal that has value for you?
well but you are comparing it with some of the best goals.
i mean, you can't divide them only between "best" and "meh", don't you? :)
I don't think this is one of the best goals but surely it's very good because it's something new and difficult to execute.
at first i was underwhelmed aswell, but i think we've been spoilt by fifa and pes more than most of us want to admit.
the cool thing about ibra's goal is that...
a) he was under pressure and had to react quickly. the keeper basically made a baseball move: head ball somewhere and run like hell, plus there was a defender already closing in.
b) ibra had his back to the goal and still calculated everything perfectly. a bit shorter and the defender would have caught the ball, a bit to the right and it would've went out, if the ball touches the ground it might've bounced somewhere else too.
c) i saw people posting youtube vids of other bicycle kick goals, but this one is different. it wasn't a straight volley (like that famous rivaldo one) but a perfectly timed looping ball that made its way directly into the goal. that's kind of hard to do standing on both feet facing the goal, but pretty intense to do like this.
He probably hasnt touched a ball in his whole life otherwise you would know how fucking hard it is to pull something like that off. Especially over that distant ...
The goal is amazing and deserves the hype, because it shows great gamesense from Zlatan.
You could put many players in similar spot and they couldnt pull even a try like that I think.
And ofc its even more awesome, that it goes in as well!
Well the goal was sure great and all that but when it comes to such goals, i think this one demanded way more skill and technique + there's a goalkeeper in goal and defenders around.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCwxlyN3B0E
That one is incredible not only because of the goal itself, but because it was the last minute of the last match of the season and Barça needed that goal to secure a spot in the Champions League.
yeah, of course. i was linking more recent/underlooked stuff
here's Seedorf's ballistic missile in decent quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRFnsRPOQu8 (for some reason, even on TV this goal was shown in abysmal .gif quality, i'm glad that's not the only recording available with this insane shot)
