Zotac never got big signup numbers, the last cup had 250 signups.

So just post an announcement about faceit dropping quake and you'll see the signups rise.

DDK please you have to really remember this one thing: stop narrating what can already be seen. Don't do it! Give -any- other information or shut up and let the play speak, but don't tell what can already be seen.

nothing against evil but strenx hit the same lg and was outplayed anyway because rapha and cypher were just too good.

just goes to show how low the elite tier quake players have dropped in skill since starting to play sm

it's true that rapha and cypher's skill dropped a bit but you never saw unpredictable shit from strenx (who has better hitscan but worse rockets), evil instead is ALWAYS catching you off guard converting with his aim, even his dodging is very unorthodox, plus his attacks are a lot more subtle then strenx's. Evil isn't a new strenx at all, for example Rapha said he reminded him about DaHang but with better aim. Evil is one of a kind and countering his style is very very hard.

First of all, evils lg tracking is much better than strenx's. He makes the frags happen while hes rushing at high speeds, jumping, dropping down etc. Strenx excelled in shaft vs shaft situations, when players werent at speed, just strafing from side to side. He also preffered to stop his movement and fully concentrate only on tracking whenever he had the opportunity.
Also, as zsx once put it, "strenx isnt the smartest cookie". On the other hand, evil is brilliant at reading the game, making the right decisions and pressuring his enemy. And hes the best because he combines that with insane speed and keeps it up the whole game.

Yeah, rapha and cypher are a bit sloppy nowadays, but Id say evil wouldve bested them anyway. Rapha and cypher just didnt adapt to his style of play yet.

this argument has happened forever what if cooller from 2003 played vs czm of 2004 and bla bla.

We will never get each player at their prime to face each other since they never reached prime together, take it as it comes. Evil has a balanced style of play comprising of in your face shaft rush, crazy good rockets, dance dodge moves and item timing. Current evil is better than any other opponent rapha or cypher faced in their prime. strenx had the aim but lacked other skills, cooller had insane dodge and had the items down but forgot to attack when in control, Dahang was good at shut out victories but could not come back under pressure, and av3k lacked that x-factor of conviction / self-confidence that makes people win high-stress matches, Evil has all these qualities but in a single player. At their prime only rapha and cypher belonged to a separate league, but I think evil is up there.

So shut up and accept the world as it is. As for my personal viewing pleasure evil is more fun to watch than rapha, as his style forces frags while rapha's style primarily is to make zero errors and capitalize when other player makes one.

I believe he would be well capable of doing so, because:

Whenever Cypher and DaHang won Rapha, they based their strategy on catching rapha mid-way to smaller items. It was extremely efficient, because when rapha is out of control, he loves to hear out the enemy's movement and heads towards ya/shards on the opposite site of the map, restacks to 100/100 or 100/150 and positions himself to do max damage when the next major item spawns. By denying him to do this, he really has no choice but to rush and well, we all know that raphas not an aimwhore (most of the days). Evil loves to do this against every opponent, not just against rapha. But on the top of that, hes much more confident and less afraid when rushing rapha, its probly because he didnt duel him so much in the past and doesnt feel any special respect towards him, unlike the other pros.

And if theres a thing that Cypher struggles against, its the aveks 'in your face and lets see what happens' style. Cypher is best at mid range and he likes to have his distance. But a part of evils play is exactly this, fearless rushing and great close range aim.

I mean all this is just a theory, but why to take it away from evil? Hes doing a great job and its him making the next step in quake gameplay.

Disagree. Look at avek - he was really active leading up to this dh and was in great shape. Got completely destroyed by rapha. Look at raphas ql profile. He prepared as much as previous years.

i always thought quake had no skillceiling but after 13 years it's been starting to stagnate significantly.

av3k never looked as sharp in the leadup to the last tournaments as he once did.

cyphers rockets aren't heatseaking missiles anymore

rapha is not 5 steps ahead anymore.

maybe it's the fact that they play other games now, maybe it's age, maybe they peaked.

evil is playing extremely well, but there was always this elite tier of players that just are playing mezmerizing. nobody is playing up there right now

quake3 skill has been evolving for over a decade and it's not evolving right now if you don't see that i can't help you.

av3k practiced a lot, and he moved around insanely well, it was a pleasure for the eyes, with all that flick turns and walls sticking, but he made a lot of errors, and simply seemed to lack something, this is the only reason he lost to the worst rapha we have seen from a while time ago

you can't play two games and excel in both, you just can't. av3k strenx rapha cypher all are playing something else than than ql too -> inevitable skilldrop, which evil abused by actually practising

man, enough of this.

everybody knows we have 2-3 semi-active pros now, not about 20-30 like 3-4 years ago, so has decreased the competitve level.

stop whining under your nose and prepare to die like a he-male with the game you love like we all are.
