TL;DR version: has to wait on investors and see whether they see smth in it so they can bring in lots of $$$, or he has to give (sell) it to a firm which will ignore his input and f*ck up the entire game
right, but its more than nothing, i mean how many money does 1 fucking 2 modelled strafing q3 clone cost...n ot much, but much more than what they have, i dunno...
tl;dr: they have done nothing, not even finished the plans. They reached some companies for funding and failed miserably. The last attempt before a restructure is soon or happened already, and even if they get it they think it will last for lets say 6 months then rely on kickstarter.
It's been more than a year already right?
The other funny thing is he seems to really think kickstarter (more like indiegogo since he is not eligible for kickstarter) is a realistic option.
They are already playing a demo and testing the values.
"They reached some companies for funding and failed miserably."
Not really? He´ll know if he gets the funding next week.
"even if they get it they think it will last for lets say 6 months then rely on kickstarter."
that´s actually one of his ideas because he don´t want the game to be funded all the way , he wants to prove that this game will have its place in the market so they will fund the rest of the production or if this fails he´ll try to start a kickstarter
If it is next week then it means all the previous attempts failed, and it is not certain they will do so next week or whenever.
More like he doesn't get a good enough deal to get it completely funded without losing control of the project or decent enough revenue.
It's been 6 months and development essentially has not started yet (one thing is an alpha demo without models and another is a full fledged game), there's no funding (and the alternative is idealistic) and we know 2gd spends his time drunk either on or off screen (even worse the rest of the team are gamers, the laziest people on earth). Is that a good prospect?
This is why you don't talk about projects early on. If the game ever gets released by that time people will have forgotten about it.
He is called Hector and lives in south america, what he gonna be optimistic about, washing cars, dealing drugs, robbing people, or escaping it all, moving to the north and blowing middle aged men @ Sea World.
If you are realistic and you have financial knowledge you would know this project have little to none possibility to get financed, especialy due to actual geoeconomic circumstances.
Its not cheap. If all the 3-5k or so competitive QL players/spectators* would give 50$ then it would be enough. Pretty damn unlikely that this will happen though...
*I estimate the numbers from peak viewers at big events.
What he should do to get excitement/interest up for the Kickstarter is reveal some work-in-progress details. Give us some screenshots or even a proof of concept video of some of the mechanics (movement, weapon balances/types, etc.). That would get people excited at least.
tbh, i think if he was truly motivated and passionate, there would be many options for him in terms of assembling a team. there are many highly successful games out there that started off from very modest beginnings. start small and build from there. you dont need funding - focus on delivering a good consistent core experience and build from there.
He already has a team and most likely knows any additions he wants to make. It all comes down to money. A considerable amount of money is needed for those additions, even more for the project as a whole, so funding is necessary in some form or another. I would say he is motivated since his entire business could be compromised by Reborn if it fails and he has yet to abandon the game. Ask him about e-sports and you'll see his passion, as everyone has in any interview or show centered around the topic.
