Every Sunday FACEIT returns with the weekly FACEIT Quake Live Sunday Cup. This week we have arrived at number fifteen.

Last week we saw a change in the cup, as evil did not participate. Pavel didn't hesitate twice to swoop away the win under dem0n nose in the final. This week we return in full force, with commentary provided by

Daniel "ddk" Kapadia and

Xavier "Zoot" Dhorne live on FACEIT TV.

with such a mappool its clear that in the first rounds probably no map which is fun for me will ever be played. instead of introducing NEW players into the game and let NEW faces rise and have a chance, with such a mappool the "oldschoolers" have a huge advantage, which is, in my oppinion not a good idea.
it was voted democtratically, and therefore its not your fault. Nonetheless i think its stupid to have 4/7 old q3 maps.

new map will still be at disadvantage, as experianced players will find rail angles, good trap points, and over all gamestyle quicker, due to experiance lol

having old maps in mappool, makes it easier to catch on, as new players have lots of learing materials...

We took out a rather old map (Q3 CPMA) for an old map for that reason. We're introducing Sinister for the Daily Cups to test it out. We'll place it in the Sunday Cup pool if it proves to be good.

dm6 is probably 6 years older than toxicity. and as much as i recommend having new maps in the pool, sinister is not a good choice atm, because of the spawns. I played it quite a bit and the starting spawns can determine the whole game. One can spawn at shaft and the other almost at the same place, but with mg. olmost as bad as the old t4 spawns.
yellack said something about changing some stuff. but i dont know if its already implemented or is going to be implemented.

I never said DM6 was newer. We have to do something in terms of maps. People were always complaining about Silence and Hektik as well, but they are generally accepted nowadays.

I see no harm in testing Sinister. If it proves to be decent, we can continue with it, if it doesn't work for now, we'll put it back on the shelve and wait for some fixes.

what are you refering to? the spawns?
I think the spawns on tox or hektik are very balanced.
Also 90% of the t7 spawns and 90% of the ztn spawns.
There are some situations which are truely screwed and should be fixed though.

People whining about dm6 is ridiculous. This map provided one of the very best games in Quake history (Cooller, czm, ZeRo4, Jibo, av3k, Cypher, fox, LeXer, Z4muZ, fooKi, rapha's first TOP 3 etc.) while Toxicity is solid map but not legendary.

DM6 is awesome.

But the majority of players don't want to practice a lot of maps (due to time spent probably) so pick-pick system wouldn't suit them.
Drop-drop system is ok if you have to play a single map, but it's horrible if there is a bo3 or bo5 to do, in my opinion.

Still, eventually someone is going to come along and pick them, and those that can't be bothered to actually learn the maps will fall behind sooner or later to those that take the time to practice them.

Like when Zero4 forfeit Silence vs Rapha because he didn't practice it and knew he couldn't win.

i don't see that at all... But i'm not so good at duel either..

On Hektik you can rush your opponent a couple of times if the items are far away timewise.
On dm6 you can't because it's too big and it's too hard to get some weapons.

On Hektik you can rail your opponent.
On dm6 you can't because you won't have a rail in the first place.

On Hektik you can hit damage at mega.
On dm6 it's a lot harder because you'll be stuck on the lower or mid floor and both are not ideal.

On hektik if you lose a fight by few HP, before a big item, you'll have an opportunity to rush again and try to nullify the pickup.
On dm6 you can't because it's too big and it's too hard to get anything different than LG.

On hektik YA isn't that exposed... But you'll have the upper ground if you want to try to hit some damage on it.
On dm6 YA position is the worst possible for that side of the map (exposed but hard to harass from the lower sides).

i could go on, what am i missing here?

false, its much easier to trap rail @ hektik... getting rail on dm6 is matter of timing mh

??? lg is best offensive weapon, and with good movement you can push for item

??? dm6 ya is safer, as long as its synced with other item... now, on hektik youre fucked up no matter the time of other items...

you could go on, but you try to adapt dm6 to aero/tox gamestyle, while its much more tactical...

No, I always have enjoyed to spec dm6, it provides much more entertaining games than that new wave of fast and hektik maps like hektik and toxicity. Having few like that is ok, but not when 2/3 of mappoll consist of them.

full control for strenx isnt map fault, lol...

idd dm6 isnt the most forgiving map, especially if u play against strenx... go watch av3k demon that was played lately

Lets face it, people said the same about ql dm6 sucking on the classic cooller-rapha match, then watched the commentary and realized for 5 minutes that it doesn't.

Why are vods all in HD? I cant change the quality to normal... freezing every 3 secs and unwatchable on my 19mbit/s connection.

I used to love DM6. After seeing yesterdays strenx vs guard DM6 I hate DM6. Honestly, its a bad map. I dont know how or why would they add it to the map pool. Watching it is boring at top level. Toxxy boxxy has more entertaining games and more chances to actuall come back. Lots of people complain about toxy because of the spawn rape. But atleast you can come back there. In DM6 u sometimes get such potat spawns that it just seals the game.

Honestly all the sudden hate for DM6 seems a bit dumb to me. There have been some great games on this map.
It's only when the skill gap is that important that games are boring there.

Some years ago Strenx raped Cooller on that map in an online cup which can be compared to what happened yesterday, but then had some great games at ESWC.

Couldn't watch it live, just watched (some of) the vods. Great cup again!
Nice to have strenx back! Active or not, when he's in the zone there's just no stopping him. Kinda strange he makes a comeback when dm6 is back tho. =) Anyway, it's good for the competition either way!
Looking forward to strenx-pavel & strenx-evil.

congrats to zoot & ddk, they seem to improve with every show imo!
