... and it's called the Dakar Rally, but has had nothing to do with Dakar in the recent years.
Fortunetly Quake Live is still hanging on and has a strong community so I don't see why the organisers of Quakecon would want to fuck over their last followers.

probably have to get to ny then transfer bus to dallas somehow. Or fly there for $380 if you book like 5 months in advance.... All we need to bring are keyboard and mice? computers will be provided?
I looked into it and it'll be cheaper if we bus to buffalo and take a 5hr flight to dallas. So greyhound or Amtrak to Buffalo for $48, and the round trip to dallas according to google is $261. so a quake trip for under $310... after taxes and flying fees it'll be more like $400 but still not bad. PS. We need to book rooms and share hotels with other quakers. umm are you going for the duel tournament or are you going for ctf as well?
At the last Sydlan I promoted a competition where we could win a laptop and we managed to blow the competition in votes. Scumbag intel didn't give us anything except some usb sticks :((
It will be renamed to BETHESDACON and tournament will be in ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE.
Listening to numerous complaints of previous events, admins will conveniently announce it very early in the morning (if they not too lazy to wake up), so people will have plenty of time (6-7 hours at least) to arrange their trip and travel there.
In any project you should look for tasks that can overlap to eliminate pointless bottle necks and achieve parallel execution and smaller critical path
Today's quakecon project
decide to do qcon > find vendors/sponsors > book venue > announce a date > decide on games
What it should be:
decide to do quakecon > decide on games > commit to a date >
------------------------------------------------------> research venues-------->
------------------------------------------------------>find vendors/sponsors > book venue
Given that quakecon has been happening for ~10 years in a row, isn't it kind of obvious it's already time to simply spit out a date and game list?
The fire was in 2010, also the year of the spinning logo. 2011, nothing really sticks out as going wrong that year. Well except for the constant bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound on stream.
yes he did, together with Joe - iirc it was shortly after he quit ESL.
but I think I remember him being much more involved in the production side of things in 2011, besides commentating ofc.
edit: after doing some research, 2010 had Joe, 2GD and the spinning logo. No chance that would happen under 2GD's watch! Which is what i meant with "2GD ran the show" :)
You know that thread will haunt for you life, do you.
edit: if the point isn't clear, thing is everything you write simply cannot be believed nor taken seriously, as proven on that thread.
There are good and bad parts, and loser frogs on game forum suffering from all kinds of personality disorders will only ever focus on the negative aspects to try and make yourself feel better by trying to make others feel bad.
