The 22nd FACEIT Quake Live Sunday Cup is coming up. Evil is still far ahead in the lead with 76 points, but last week others took the chance to gain some points closer to him, with pavel taking the win. Cooller showed his skill again, coming second in the cup.

We are back with the stream this week on FACEIT TV. We want to thank all the Quakers who supported us last week in the CS:GO tournament.

Daniel "ddk" Kapadia and

Xavier "Zoot" Dhorne will go live at 08:30 CST.

The FACEIT Sunday Cup #22 will be kicking off at 08:00 CST, while check-ins open at 07:00 CST. You can currently already sign-up. If you are not playing, be sure to tune in to find out who will take one step closer to qualify for the $500 Winter Championship Finale.

Yep, crazy dm6 match between phoenix aka pony and czm, like 3 or 4 OT's. Was gamegun 08' many other good spanish duelers that tourney too, sl1p, geow, ponzi, etc. Also personal favorite Russia's Nike, who had the worst aim out of any top player i can remember which made him even more impressive. Miss Q3 (yes, even cpma/vq3)...

Please someone forward the following to the webmaster of the FaceIt website:

When accessing the website using Internet Explorer 10 there is a message box stating that the browser is not supported and to use an alternative “modern” browser. I checked the website in Chrome and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why Internet Explorer 10 wouldn’t be able to render it properly and fast enough. Either the webmaster is oblivious to the features and benchmarks of the latest versions of Internet Explorer or he has an ax to grind, in either case making it look extremely unprofessional.

Virtualisation works wonders here. You can use something like vnc to integrate apps running on virtual machine into your wm. Looks like UltraVNC windows server allows you to share single windows instead of whole screen. I haven't tried it myself. Sounds like a nice challenge :-)

the problem is that the main apps I want to run on windows are audio apps, Ableton Live, Reaktor, SoundForge. Not really suitable for running in a VM because I need low latency audio for my firewire soundcard and all the CPU power I can get.

There's other reasons as well, such as the eternal font-rendering and UI layout battle within Intellij Idea (or Java UIs in general) on linux..etc..etc..

Roy, if faceit doesn't want to cast some GOOD matches until quarters/semis (casting weird choices like, for example, kronic vs twister instead of some avek-pavel-cooller-strenx-cypher), could u at least provide demos of top players matches?

cause we've known some epic stuff going on 'behind the scenes', like QL top losing to random guys or getting back in business, but u just don't care about top players until quarters.

Tell u what - the last 2-3 months faceit tourneys always have some crazy epic shit in the initial rounds, having some random guys improved their skills and beating legends like CLR, CPR and even EVL !
I mean - rounds of 128 might turn out quite predictable, but from then on - it's no excuse to NOT to cast the top guys, because even mid-to-mid level matches giving out lotsa 20-0 endscores, and on the other hand watching top is ALWAYS more satisfying than some uninteresting kasta or kronic (no offence here).

Last attempt:

When someone takes the lead off the first spawn and never loses control for the remainder of the game you can argue that things might have turned out differently with different spawns. Perhaps if the other player would have gotten control first he would been able to hold it for very long too.

However, cypher had control several time during the game and dem0n was able to kill him very quickly every time just outaiming/outplaying him. There is no reason to asume that it would have been different, had cypher gotten control off the first spawn.

Streaming at a different frame rate wouldn't make a difference; All transcodes are 30 fps and the faceit stream is already at 60 fps.

The only real way they could make the other settings not look like ass would be to use more stream friendly settings (picmip 16, no smoke ect).

There is no other reason and 'sp00ky' isn't streaming quakelive.

i doubt faceit would require 720p+ at 60fps to stream quakelive, even at picmip 0 and whatnot.

the games sp00ky streams are ps3/xbox360, so idk how well 15 year old quake can compete in terms of detail

Avek's style vs Cooller is unlike avek :)
I don't know the reason - it looks like he always chokes against cooller but maybe cooller knows how to counter his standard style.

His item awarness and prediction is way worse when he plays against cooller. I'm actually surprised that he won that t7 (I'm happy for him though!).

I appreciate you not directly insulting me with curse words like most ESR people do over a disagreement. But I didn't mean most of the things I said here or on Twitch chat.
While it's true I believe that Av3k reaching the grand final was mostly due to his aim, saying "Quake is dead" is an obvious over-the-top statement (out of frustration) and I wasn't serious.
I am a Cooller fanboy I'll admit, and seeing him lose to Av3k was dissapointing for me because Av3k beat him by brute aggression and aim while Cooller was playing a very tactical match on all 3 maps but couldn't deliver enough dmg in the fights, especially long range.
So all in all I was overreacting and I apologize.
And btw I do promote Quake any chance I get, it's just that my friends are all into the mainstream LoL/CS:GO/BO2 kind of games and they don't even want to give it a chance :)

Is it possible to somehow download VODs? Watching them on twitch is annoying for me, they freeze after a few minutes no matter for how long they buffer, even though my computer and connection are rather good.

It wasn't a big whine by Cypher - he's entitled to be frustrated like everyone else. dem0n was in the zone and Cypher wasn't playing well - predictable ending. I think it shows that these weekday and sunday cups are really having an effect on the skill levels of those not normally considered as the very top players. I think its good that dem0n, Fraze and Zeun etc come along and bloody the noses of the pros. Myabe now they'll start taking it seriously - they can't just practice for a day or so and just pwn everyone anymore... I'd love to see Av3k, Cypher, Cooller and Strenx really practicing hard and bringing their top game to these cups and/or lans :D

I was actually thinking about that when i was watching a strenx/dem0n vod from strenx's stream. how does a semi pro on form like dem0n compare to a top player (like av3k or cypher) not doing his best. absolutely no offence to dem0n, who played a really cool quake, but imho if strenx was well practiced and hit his rails like he should he would have beaten him confidently. there is still work to be done by those dudes aspiring for top places, but these tournaments definitely give them the incentive and wins against pros hopefully will motivate them even more which will make the wheels of the scene keep on turnin'. I think we're on the verge of the time when pros need to buckle up and rethink the situation otherwise they can find themselves dethroned in a couple of months. not yet, but really soon. which is very exciting.

Its just like for most top players theres nothing more to achieve. No offense to Face It but a sunday cup is just no that big of a deal, especially if you wont countless already alongside with many 4 digit LAN prizes....

Of course for the sub-top level its a huge deal just itself to be in the finals vs a top pro, most of them practicing actively and being motivated just by the challenge. Not so surprising results imo.

I just wish there would be more LANs so the newer great players could also show themselves there, like Evil did. (Baksteen, Fraze, Demon -he got really good lately- zeun etc...)

Can the faceit vod not be 480p or 760p? Twitchtv keeps freezing every 4 secs unless it's lower quality. I can never watch the vods on my 18mbit connection capped at 60 gigs per month :[
