not really. maybe i didn't explain myself clearly enough, but i actually meant 'I don't think it's appropriate, but i don't give a shit'. what i would argue about was calling us hypocrites for showing some support (esr style, but genuine i believe) to Av3k, but I realise it's pointless and I'm really done. the difference is: anheponic is funny and means well (fuck me if I'm wrong, the world is doomed) and JamJam can get stuck behind his desk as far as I'm concerned.

HoQ: They finished bottom of the league below a clan which dropped out in the first 2 clanwars, and somehow that reverted to me calling them neo-nazi assholes or something.

They are probably two of the greatest functional strength/compound exercises you can do. Exercises that involve multiple muscle groups working together under extreme stress is a great way to train if you want to develop strength. I won't profess to be an expert on anatomy, human physiology or "sports science" but if you train like this you can definitely feel the benefits and athletes from all fields will practice exercises like this from my understanding.

There. What I said is, 99% of people that is in a gym is to look good shirtless. Therefore, these are completely non obligatory. You can do other exercises to work the same muscles that aren't a 911 call waiting to happen.

They're not just strength exercises but also intense mass building exercises. Both the deadlift and the squat are overall body mass building exercises. Squat is arms, legs, glutes, hams, lower back, mid back and upper and even shoulders and deadlift is all back, glutes and legs.

Dorian Yates and other Mr. Olympia winning guys all deadlifted and squatted.

In a bodybuilding program you'd typically do deadlifts at the very end of your back routine as opposed to doing it first in a strength 5x5 routine. Squats, it doesn't really matter as legs is legs.

No lol. Dorian Yates ditched squats after a while. All he got was injuries and meh leg development. His legs exploded with leg press, he also uses other machines like the hack squat:

Like I said, unless you are into a sport where you need excellent balance, or into actual powerlifting, if you want to create muscle and look good, I still don't see how squats are an absolute must that you must do or otherwise you are a pussy. This is the latest ridiculous trend in the gym world.

Ah yes sorry miscalculated. I knew he deadlifted but yeah he ditched the barbell squats for hack squats as he said there was too much emphasis for him on glutes, back and arms, hardly any leg development.

Thing I love about Yates is that he lifted heavy weight but did it with snapshot picture perfect form, the guy was and is still an animal.

Barbell squats are good for a great ass :D only reason why people should do them imo. Lunges are pathetic in comparison.

My glutes lag behind so I switch up and replace hack squats with barbell every now and then to hit them. I agree with you on the fact that there's no need for a big ass but trust me son, chicks dig a guy with an ass :D than a guy with none.

Also people need to make sure to start off light, even just using the barbell itself without any weight on just to get the form down first before attempting to lift heavy will not only strengthen your back but studies have shown that people who deadlift with good form actually have stronger backs and spinal erectors than those who don't deadlift.

Obviously though if you have a snapped back aka a herniated disk you shouldn't ever deadlift or squat as it puts your spine in a very compromising position and could make it 20 times worse.
