this is the same monitor as the alienware, which all in all is overpriced, there are better value monitors out there. ASUS, BenQ and the new Samsung's.
I had a couple of AOC sample panels to give feedback during it's development, it could be good but i haven't seen the final product as i'm no longer involved after leaving my previous team. I put heavy emphasis on low input lag with varied overdrive settings to reduce pixel overshoot in my documents back to AOC, and in my last document i also mentioned lightboost running in 2D mode - since then i see they have swapped the panel from 120hz to 144hz so i can only assume it will be supported. I've no idea what the final version is like though.
nobodylol: Someone just got an AOC GP2460pqu and has been unable to get LightBoost working:
"I have the AOC G2460PQU and I can’t get lightboost to work. I talked to ToastyX about it and he says that it’s different to the other monitors. The CRU method also doesn’t work. I can’t find a source on the claim that it support Nvidia 3D Vision 2. You probably should remove it from the list."
“Also worth noting is that it [AOC G2460PQU] does offer 3D support with compatible systems (Nvidia 3D Vision 1 and 2). It isn’t pushed as a feature because it isn’t an out of the box capability (it requires seperate investment), but it is supported. LightBoost is a key requirement for the 3D Vision 2 system, so this should be supported in theory. We will be testing this model in the not too distant future and will find that out.”
More guinea pigs are needed, including people who have a 3D emiitter. One idea is they attempted to look for a LightBoost license from nVidia (if it costs something) but balked at the fees, or something...
Just bought this, has there been any update or news on this monitor? I just now realized the importance of Lightboost before that i thought the 144 hz would be a safe bet on having the feature available. I hope someone out there is working on a way to get lightboost to work here. Else i have to return this monitor.
I guess it resembles a 120hz CRT somewhat, but without it its not the end of the world, frames will just be slightly blended together, but its still 120hz... :>
that said, LCD's cant beat CRT's, but its getting close with lightboost. Still hoping OLED somehow ends up suitable for gaming panels in the near future :)
so to return a 120hz panel that doesnt do lightboost? in my opinion, thats overreacting a bit ^^
