Not sure if QL is able to actually poll that fast, but when I used 500/1000 Hz, m_filter 1 felt fairly insignificant. That's not the case at 125Hz. Maybe if you have a "noisy" mousepad it could improve things.

Yes it does, but some people like that for some reason. Pretty sure Jibo still uses m_filter.

I think the input is only delayed (smoothed out) with small movements, if you do flicks and turns the speed is not noticably affected. That makes it easier to aim with lg for example where you want smooth steady tracking.

I just realised, that I was playing with m_filter 1 for some months at least, it may have been in a cooller cfg on which I have based my cfg; didn't notice any input lag, tried with and without, and will probably stick with it since my aim is equally bad with or without, and with m_filter it feels like gliding on ice or smth.

I don't know:P I just like it, and I'm so used to it now and it makes the mouse feel smoother, but it will make a small small mouse delay that is barely noticeable, but noticeable:P

Not really, with injxes formula you can calculate your "real accel", that way no matter what hardware it's both comparable. If you move the mouse slow you can measure cm/360 even with accel.

That seems like an awful hassle for some, but look at it this way, no tennis player would string his racket at random, every player that plays regularly knows his racket brand and string tension. So why don't gamers do that, it's not "nerdy" on the contrary that's resonable.

Reson why I am trying to see what other people play with is because as you can see my cm/360 degrees is quite high and I don't play with any acceleration. I don't have any trouble with RJ in CTF or turning around 180 degrees to fart rockets behind me when being chased with the flag.

I don't seem to be able to have higher sensitivity because otherwise my LG lacks heavily. Drops from 37-40% down to 30% because I can't track the opponents with my mouse smoothly while they strafe etc smoothly. Also with acceleration I don't get all my flick shots with the RG which I rely quite alot on. Whats the solution?

Keep sensitivity or make it higher and just get used to it.

with in_mouse you can choose between different types of mouse input. The input can feel different depending on your computer hardware and software. For example win32 input depends on the windows mouse settings, while (raw) and DirectInput does not.

If you are not satisfied with the feeling of the mouse try another input type. With /in_restart the input is updated in QL.

in_mouse 1 win settings, accel etc
in_mouse 2 raw input, no win accel

Ah sorry, I just copied what the original poster had, didn't see that there.

As far as I know the RR doesn't affect the sensitivity.

Try to change your screen hz from 120 to 60 you'll notice that the sensitivity has changed.

I have both 120hz crt and 75 hz lcd and there is no difference in sensitivity.

Iirc he refresh rate of your monitor only affects the horizontal sensitivity of your mouse.

This is because windows trys to be clever and match it with your refresh rate; it's setup to have a 1:1 sensitivity for X and Y at a 60hz refresh rate, so if your running that refresh rate then it should be at 1:1, and will prob feel a little different at higher refresh rates.

I use cheese's mouse fix (is somewhere on the site), the 120hz version as thats the refresh rate in use on my crt for quake.

Even going from the cpl mouse fix @ 120hz to cheese's m fix @ 120hz felt like night and day for me, it really is worth a try!

I hope this is of some help, made a big difference for me at least.

I think in_mouse 2 feels terrible. in_mouse 1 feels like Q3, yet I personally find in_mouse -1 to feel the best. I have an intellimouse explorer 3 with the windows sp3 polling fix to get it working at 500mhz. Perhaps this may interfere with in_mouse 1 and 2? If you use sp3 hack, I suggest trying in_mouse -1 and seeing if it solves your problem.

Been wondering latly what com_maxfps i should use instead of 125. I tried yesterday with 75, 76, 77 and 77 was the one that seemed to be best for my monitor. Altho the sensitivity changed abit so I changed it back to 125 again :/.

I use 75 it gives me the smoothest experience as 77 raises my FPS to 86 or so actually. However, what I'd like to know is if my client misses to register some shots as opposed to 125.

i'd guess so. the maxpackets steps are 50 58 63 100 and 125 iirc. so you'll only get mp 63 like this.

I'm surprised more people don't use m_cpi. It seems like such a great addition to make accel more reliable over a range of mouse dpi settings, and an excellent way for people to be able to compare their mouse settings. Suddenly "sens 10" actually means something. It's means 10 deg/cm, or in other words, 360/10 = 36cm/360, which is a physical unit that anyone can understand.

At the bottom of their post about the new m_cpi feature, they even provide the formula for calculating your new sens and accel using the new m_cpi scheme. Why haven't people switched? Do they not trust it? Do they think it still feels off or different? I've found it to be wholly reliable.

Again, for those people leaving out the cm/360 value or strength of accel: you have to realize plain QL values mean NOTHING.

Noone will try your settings, unless you are some kind of pro player... So basically, that way it's useless information.
