Is ExactAccel the same accel that the kinzu has and does anyone use exactaccel? Basically any information about exactaccel would be nice I am thinking of using it. I have the Steelseries sensei.
ExactAccel takes a range of values, I think 0 to 10.
What's perplexing is why there is also an ExactAim which slows the mouse down at low speeds.
The only ways to accomplish an accel in hardware would be to increase/decrease the dpi, or have it report more or less counts for a given movement.
Since no one appears to know, or be interested in the kind of rigorous tests needed to find out exactly what the kinzu v1 accel is like, we don't have any way of setting out to replicate it in hardware or software.
I assume that the sensei / xai uses a linear "curve" for its "exactAccel" and/or "ExactAim". As to how strong it is I do not know.
Yeah you are right the settings is 0-10. The accel doesn't increase depending on how fast you move the mouse but rather how far you move it and if you do move it very fast it feels like there is no accel. If you move it slow you need to move it more for the accel to kick in. If you move it at medium to fast speed then it will accel sooner. I wouldn't mind using this for a lower sensitivity, but anything above 4.5 sensitivity at 400dpi I think i wouldn't want to use it. Although I would like to say at 4 sensitivity and 400dpi it feels very natural and it wouldn't take to much to get use to it.
After playing around with the settings on my xai for a while, I found that I aimed better with exactaim on 3/10 and freemove on 3/10 or 1/10, but this is personal if not placebo. IIRC, exactaim doesn't really slow down your mouse sensitivity but just makes it feel more "stable" and decreases the LOD a bit. Also the accel on the kinzu v1 is the result of its shitty sensor and has no resemblance to the exact accel option on the sensei which is controlled via its MCU.
P.S, you shouldn't use 400 dpi on the sensei since its actually 360 dpi. The dpi changes in steps of 90 dpi, so its best to use a value that is a multiplication of 90, 450 dpi or 900 dpi is what most recommend.
The 90dpi thing was right at least I think. I did a full swipe on my mousepad with my microsoft 3.0 which is locked at 400dpi and a full swipe with my sensei and they were different by somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees.
I did another test but i used a gx9 aswell. The gx9 and the sensei at 400 dpi move the exact same amount. My ime 3.0 is 450 dpi. So the 90 dpi thing is wrong there is no problems with the sensei. I also tested 1 through 10 dpi to make sure it really can do 1 through 11,400dpi in increments of one and it can.
I e-mailed steelseries about the kinzu v1 accel and they seemed interested in helping me but now I've been waiting for a bit and have yet to hear anything concrete.
