*update* It's over! Thanks for all participants and spectators to be there. The next one will be on a weekend in September.
We started off quite lately. At 20 o'clock the gaming stations were still occupied by some SC2 and DOTA2 players... Then the Quake Live players sat down, but before it started each participant drank a shot. Also with the start of the cup twister started to drink some beers. After a few king of the hill rounds, with Arcticon being too strong, we decided to go for small groups of 3 players. Each winner of the small group played against each other and in the and Arcticon was able to win the beginners cup. Afterwards we did a rematch between muTz and ZeriouS, to relive the EPS glory back in the days. On Lostworld and Furious Heights ZeriouS was able to win, despite Furious Heights being close. Afterwards Twister offered to play some showmatches and after consuming a lot of beers Arcticon made it quite exciting going into the lead on Toxicity. In The end twister managed it anyways to beat him. Following up the players jesusismyarmor and JesusSmokesAlot played against each other. To conclude this event ZeriouS played vs jesusismyarmor. In between all the action we made a small group photo, drank beer, played Guitar Hero, watched fragmovies and drank beer.
Quakers unite! Let's meet up for a small Quake Live cup! After a successful first spontaneous cup a couple of weeks ago, you are invited to gather in the eSports bar if you are in the area of Berlin. This is a fun event and since it's taking place in a bar, you can be sure, that we will not play sober! Actually you will probably have to drink something in order to withstand the 60Hz ips-displays and mmo mice!
Twister will play now some showmatches, first vs. the winner of the cup and anyonowzne else afterwards. The only map we will play will be Cure, to create equal chances for everyone. Updated rules and FAQ. 4 gaming stations.
- twister (sure)
- Subseven (sure)
- MyArtIsMurder (sure)
- muTz (sure)
- chef Alex (maybe)
- Blaggy (maybe)
- ZeriouS (rather not :p)
- random drunk tourists and RTS players (totally!)
- some Street Fighter ladies (c'mon)
1. Getting drunk and survive ;)
2. The more you advance, the more you drink
3. The higher your skill is (elo, achievements, reputation, ... ) the more you drink before the tournament starts (=handicap)
4. Are you too nub, then give yourself liquid courage!
cpu: intel 2860qm @ 2,6 GHz

Apologies beforehand: Since there are only two gaming computers installed, we are currently limiting the tournament to eight player slots. If perhaps we could have two additional laptops over there, we could extend the player slots to 16.
Two additional laptops are available! In total we have now four gaming stations!
Stream: Tests were unsuccessful so far. In other tournaments it's possible to stream mulitple povs not only from the in-game pov's, but also from the bar itself. Am trying to figure that out.
Thanks beforehand: To the crew at Meltdown Berlin who allowed us a nice venue where old and new adult gamers meet up.
1. Stream?
Currently no. See also Special Notes & Limitations.
2. Will there be another event like this?
Definitely! It will probably be on a weekend during September.
3. Why on Wednesday? Why not on an other day?
It was offered to me to do this now, to act swift. It would be possible to make it on another day, but then there are already fixed events for more popular game titles, such as SC2, Dota 2, Street Fighter and so on. If we Quake players create enough interest and consume enough, then perhaps we could receive an even better time slot!
4. Will there be enough players?
Yes I think so. The last time a few players from other genres joined up spontaneously for a laugh.
5. 60 Hz? Are you nuts?
Have a drink.
6. Where could I stay at?
You could stay at another Quakers place or ask on https://www.couchsurfing.org/ for a place for the night. Otherwise there are traditional places like a hotel or a hostel. One of it's kind is just next door to the eSports-Bar. It's called "The Cat's Pajamas Hostel" ( http://www.thecatspajamashostel.com/ ). I was there and asked the owner, but there are no beds available for this particular day. But maybe you are lucky when you ask? There are plenty of other options here in Berlin tho. For a general overview about hostels in Berlin, visit http://www.djh-berlin-brandenburg.de !
7. I am new to Quake. Can I join?
No problem, join up, have a drink, and play! If you like it, welcome to Quake Live. (There are a lot of links I could post here, where to start at...)
8. What are adult gamers?
Gamers who aren't under age. This is a bar. That is why.
"The Meltdown-Berlin is the eSports-bar in Germany! the gaming community gathers here to watch professional eSports, hang out, have a drink and a good time.
We are open everyday and show any eSports content of the day. You can of course make requests too. On top of that we have different community tournaments throughout the week:
DotA 2 on Tuesdays!
SSF4/Beat 'em Ups on Wednesdays!

You will be able to use your custom config, hud and if you desire also bring your own hardware. The exact rules, maplist will be updated here soon. We are open for suggestions for this event. If you think you can take the test of skill, in Quake and handling alcoholic drinks, come to Berlin! Also we have a piano over there ;) Contrary to expectations gaming ladies will also show up and seduce you to one or another drink.
