Wtf, I remember you being quite good or what has happened ? Maybe don't play too much, but rather take your time to actually watch your demos, listen to criticism, evaluate and adjust your play instead.. Good luck!

I was not really active since last year. Been playing quake by periods (long breaks, little quake after some time).

you won't have much fun. had some ping issues in the past myself, some of the time you warp around and can make ridiculous kills and the rest of the time you are frozen and being killed...

No shit, I used to play 56k back in 2001, and actually my problem will be distance, not stability. I will still be able to spam and hit rails, but he should beat me pretty easily, however I can be sneaky which will give him good practise, and I get good survival practise.

well, if you're not lagging, give it a go...
but I, for example, would be raging at some point, if some sureshot rails just don't hit. or the shaft...

well 30 games a night will be around 5 hours + 3 for the waiting, finding matches (if you're VERY lucky)... so more like an 8 hour session everyday.. i doubt that it will bring much progress ...

Don't waste your life on this game. Even if you did get better at this game. What will have to show for it? A couple grand in the bank? No. A 6 pack and healthy body? No. A social life? No. This game will do nothing but eat your time with nothing to give you back.

I grew up with Q2 and quake is part of my life now. I really enjoy playing it and I would like to compete not playing casual anymore. I dont care about quake not giving me anything. This is what im listening everyday from my gf. I just wanna enjoy the game and compete in cups and not to be knocked out in very 1st round.

Then go instead with some practice partners. Fixed schedule and so on.

Also if planned and executed properly, you'll have time for anything else: work, family, friends, other hobbies, and of course your gf. I wouldn't like to wait that long for a match, even in cups I dislike the waiting time between rounds.

You must live a very sad life if you think having a good time playing a game you enjoy is a waste of time.

Very few hobbies give you anything back. I play badminton and while it helps me stay fit (of some sort) it certainly won't make me any richer and with the amount I play I even doubt that it's the badminton that's keeping me in decent shape.

Have I ever earned anything from gaming? Nah. Is it fun? Yes!

I read this as QI marathon and thought to myself, "wow, that is a fucking awesome idea". Then I saw the title up close and was disappointed. =(

edit: after reading the main post, the only advice I would put forward is to actually spend time on the theory aspect as well. 30 duels is a shit tonne and in my opinion if you play 10 your execution will be fine, but game after game as you get more and more tired your execution will wane creating some inconsistent ideas in your learning experience. So to avoid that I'd suggest hitting around 10-15 and then watching some of your own demos and the demos of top players on that maps and make notes.

I'm not really playing whole duel after duel, but I'm aborting the game each time I make mistake or there is no point to continoue with my buddy (not sure if im gonna learn anything since hes low skill). And yea, about demos of top players. Provide latest faceit demos already. Finals were awesome (ash vs cypher). I cant really watch vods cos they are HQ and buffering is like forever.
