125hz isnt enough. go for 500. thats perfectly right. 1000hz is overkill on hardware

Why is 125hz not enough?

125hz=8ms response time, 500hz=2ms, 1000hz=1ms. no reason to use the slow mode seeing as zowie's work perfectly fine at 1000hz.

125hz = 8ms input lag, 500hz= 2ms, 1000hz = 1 ms

people will say to use 500hz because its more stable than 1000hz and causes less problems

too high or too low DPI can cause negative acceleration or pixel skipping, so calculate it at the site ja ja linked.

Does anyone have any facts for stock 1000hz being unstable with the mice of today?
Feels like some bs living on from some overclocked ms mouse.
I use 1000hz on my da for couple of years and never had any problems.

unless its da 3.5, zowie or cm recon that has unstable polling rate at any setting.

From my experience Razer mice tend to be quite stable at 1khz, but even more stable at 500hz. Other sensors seem to very wildly in stability at 1khz.

and test for yourself. You will see that on many mice when set at 1khz will vary in actual polling rate quite radically e.g between 600 and 999 hz - whereas it is normally rock solid stable at 499hz when set to 500hz.

When considering if 1000Hz is more stable than 500Hz, here is a story for you:

Once upon a time ...

- Measure mouse Hz rate when set to 1000 Hz:
Varies between 833 Hz and 1250 Hz

- Measure mouse Hz rate when set to 500 Hz:
Varies between 454 Hz and 555 Hz

"Oh noes !!!! 1000 Hz is unstable!"

Convert Hz to an actual number of milliseconds when set to 1000 Hz:
833 => 0.8, 1250 => 1.2, i.e. 1 ms +/- 0.2.

Convert Hz to an actual number of milliseconds when set to 500 Hz:
454 => 1.8, 555 => 2.2, i.e. 2 ms +/- 0.2.

In each case the polling interval actually obtained is within +/- 0.2 ms of the requested interval.

... and they all lived happily ever after, as long as they compared apples with applies.

yes, that's fine. raising DPI then lowering sens will probably cause neg accel.

make that you're not using any more DPI than you need and that your max speed in the neg accel section is as high as possible.

and 500/1000hz if that wasn't clear enough.

the rule is to up the DPI and to lower the sens ingame.
that doesn't mean that you need to play with the highest possible DPI, but 450DPI might already be too low(feels not as smooth as possible) depending on the actual game you play, and how high you have set the ingame sens.

on Zowie mice 2300 are most responsive, then 1150 and most laggy are 450 dpi.

Zowie mice use different sensors..

i would use 1000hz.

i remember when i had the steelseries ikari back then, which only could do 500hz.
it was clearly noticable on a CRT, that it wasn't as smooth as 1000hz when moving around a map.

Does someone knows the best dpi(native dpi) of razer imperator 3.5G version? I guess the sensor matters, so whats the native dpi of 3.5G sensor(laser, not 3.5g DA optical sensor)? I bet it's not 5600dpi as they advertise it. Thanks in advance( pluses on the replies! :D)!

I think it's 1800, but I am not sure :(. Nah, it's not bad on razer mouse pads and if you keep the lens clean(did track pretty well at all sens(from 10cm/360 to 30cm/360)) on megasoma, destructor and scarab). On other mouse pads... OMFG don't even lose time to try. :D

I think the 4g one is philips? Are you sure that's my sensor? Hmmm if so then it doesn't really matter if I set it on 1800 or 5600? I am currently 5600 and sens 0.3 (24.5cm/360) in_mouse 2. Grrrr

4g is twineye sensor + a 2nd sensor for distance measure or something.

i don't know, it could also be possible that any DPI step is native with this sensor.

l1nkin and k1llsen changing settings constantly, so does cypher which is no secret.

it's wrong to assume that you need to play for ages with the same mousesettings, to finally reach 100% of what is possible.

same goes for changing the mouse.

l1nkin didn't change his mouse for years actually when he was playing with WMO 1.1

cypher does change his settings pretty often but it's always slight adjustments, no real changes in fact
and cypher isn't an aim whore like l1nkin or k1llsen :p
