not a fan of warsow, but i'm happy for the team/fans.
nice to see grassroots fps getting support.
hopefully, we'll see more competitive fps games on steam in the future(cough pmx cough)
Standalone CPMA, based on Q3 source (Open Source) and custom made assets. It was intended to be free. Never happened, IIRC because one of the main guys went to help al QL's development.
I can't imagine it puts any financial burden on valve. In their eyes, having more people using the platform for whatever reason can only be a good thing. When you start up steam, it shows you the current promotional deals on steam.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but your graphic controller should then be the Intel GMA 4500MHD. Mine was listed as a GMA 4500M ("Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family" in Windows' device manager). At best, it's the same thing... not "a bunch faster". I should add that your laptop seems to use DDR3 RAM while mine has DDR2, which could have an impact on such chipset without dedicated memory.
I know I was playing with the lowest settings I could set form the GUI (apart maybe from the resolution). No idea about what could be available on console only. I was also unable to play fullscreen for some reason.
But anyway I'm not interested in downloading it again and fixing that stuff only to not play afterwards.
Cant remember the last time i put that computer through tests but i do remember the ddr3 being equal to ddr2 equivilent.
Will have to sit down and do some benchmarks again tho :)
As for a bunch faster, i specificially meant your cpu as it does play a part in performance.
My best bet is that your running old drivers, though i doubt it.
What os are you on atm?
Really wish they would come out with a matchmaking system before releasing on steam. People are going to play one game and get wrecked 40-0 and never play again, just like every other dm game.
Matchmaking would be pointless with the current player base, but the point is that there will soon be a whole lot of new people trying it out. Best to match the newbs with other newbs.
It gets released on STEAM if valve and the devs come to an agreement on how the game should be published. When the game is greenlit, valve contact the devs and hopefully the game gets on STEAM.
They need to get rid of the new menu / browser immediately. It's killed / killing the playerbase.
You can't sort or filter any servers by anything anymore, not even ping. The only option is a button to see instagib servers, which probably deters a good number of new players that wouldn't know to click it. It's also buggy and doesn't work on lower resolutions. Crizis pretty much admitted to me that it was not fixable and that they spent too much time and money working on it to scrap it.
Changing major elements of the game on a whim like removing weak/strong ammo probably doesn't help either.
Ya I liked the strong/weak ammo concept back when I played in .13 and .2. The game changed radically around .3 though and I stopped playing (15 seconds before armors/mh spawn at the start of a match wtf?).
At the cost of having an incredibly stale first minute. Spawn, go for the nearest lg/rl, maybe skirmish a bit, one player goes for mega, other player goes for ra. I'd rather have a bad initial spawn on some maps than that.
Steam will at least bring 10x more players than the current playerbase, no matter it is only greenlight on steam. The problem is how much time they will stay, and from we have seen multiple times before they will leave after two weeks tops.
What warsow's promoters (the 5 of them) don't realize is people don't like warsow. Not the casuals, not the hardcore. This could be on CNN and it will still be dead.
