He was looking for sponsorship to go to Quakecon, was in good talks with razer (his main sponsor in the past) and more like they were very eager about the idea, then few weeks before the event they disappeared (cut communication or whatever) and he was very disappointed about it that he came with that infamous tweet.

Tho few days later he did re-think about it and deleted that tweet.

basically every guy who played quake for more than 3 years retired more than once.

i played this game for 10 years and maybe retired 20 times! yet I still play and get competitive. why? because it's not only a game.. when u spend a certain amount on time during your life on something, it becomes a part of you personality!

They know this they are saying this because pros that claim they are going to retire show up for dreamhack and quakecon.

Cyphers recent performances don't really show anything tbh because he tends to lack consistency when under pressure. I actually do hope Cypher does at least win this DH because looking at him now though he should be #1 contender but it's still 50/50 till we actually get to DH.

I don't know, sure the past has shown that Rapha has the tendency to make the smartest plays against anybody, but does that really guarantee anything against a Cypher or Evil in top shape? There's still a lot of chaos and aim involved in quake, and they can pull out amazing moves themselves.
I guess my point is the skill level at the top is too narrow and too dependent on the shape of the day to make any valid "this guy 100% ez top1" arguments.
Like we saw last weekend, one day Cypher looks indestructible and 4-0s Evil, the next day it was 3-1 to Evil (yeah different format but whatever, he had the upper hand decisively)

Well that's also true, the skill level if you'd like to call it that is at such a high level, it all comes down to who is gonna remain cool and calm in the tourney environment. I don't think Rapha has been in his all best shape in a long while but then again we don't know as like I said earlier we don't often get to see as many games that he plays. Rapha, Evil and Cypher will easily be top3 or w/e but it'll be nice to see an underdog creep up there and make a name for themselves.
