np, I had also the theory that playing around with weird mouse settings caused the game engine to behave in return like it did.

Therefore there might be a sensitivity (and cl_mouseAccel) too high!

Hmm Bogotac stated in his post that he also played around with the sensitivity and cl_mouseaccel.

Perhaps it is also some kind of subtle process. Anti-Cheat methods in other major titles, such as the popular MMORPG WoW, work that way, that they collect information over a certain span of time, then silently evaluate the data, and then activate the ban. This is from what I have heard from some people working in the business.

Guys, these are only assumptions and, unfortunately and understandably, the Quake Live team would rather not confirm one of these theories, as they did not do it in the past, or else they would risk developers of cheats to get some more real understanding of how to circumvent the system.

Anyhow it seems that there are still cheaters roaming the game, predominantly script kiddies with no clue and only a small share being true hackers with their own self developed tools. With the existing definitions of hack, applying to online gaming, the script kiddies are lamers.

They can keep it all secret, but it doesn't mean they need to ignore people who paid for the game and got unlucky because of false positives.

Having installed many anticheats I never cared that these AC were scanning and totally spying on me, DO IT GO AHEAD, at least I know I have nothing to worry about, and at least I know they will catch some cheaters (and people with funny folders on their pc xD), why don't they do the same? I'd rather have a game with an AC that seems abusive but also makes public the proof (code/screens/logs etc) than a game with a team behind that just say "hey you cheated, farewells"...

I'm afraid to run FRAPS, Xfire, and STEAM or any kinds of overlays with QL after reading all of this. I don't know if it's true or not, but the fact that they don't even communicate with you and tell you what they found is fucked up.

Punkbuster, ESL WIRE, UAC, TZAC etc they all had bugs.

We used to get kicked because of overlays and even STEAM, sometimes banned too, but never we did get perm banned, also when this was happening the companies behind the anticheats ALWAYS published news concerning false positive and bugs. What's so wrong with id?

If tomorrow TS/Mumble/Xfire/Ventrilo makes a stupid update and has some kind of overlay that acts like the overlays these aimbots have, or I don't know, if it bans many people who play pickup and even some people who are known to play LANs, they will just write that kind of email back?

I'm sure until it's not happening to a very important player they will never consider these possibilities unfortunately...

Well funny post, but honestly if you think about the number of shits that can alter or "react" with Quake Live, it's mind blowing...

With ATI Tray Tools you can force textures, shaders and tweak graphics like you will never be able to do with Catalyst Control Center for instance, these tweaks are changing many details inside the game, and in some leagues for some games it's not allowed, so if an Anti Cheat spots that gfx tweaks were made that they don't allow then you get banned, that's fair, why? Because they are saying it...

With Nvidia Forceware drivers and the possibility to switch on/off ambient occlusion can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the setting you pick on some games, so if a guy uses it in a game and what if it alters some stuffs in Quake Live while you play it's scanned as wallhacking or some shits (because yes official ambient occlusion can have that kind of effect in some games!!!!!) then you get banned too????????? Then id says you used "a third party software (lol gpu driver) so kthxbye for subs cya perma ban"?

All I concluded until now is that if they think they made a mistake they will contact you (laskij, or bogOtac just now), and maybe you get unbanned, if they are sure you cheated then they won't say anything at all. I'm not ok with this, in the first case, why don't they tell laskij for instance who got unbanned what was wrong? This way he knows what he shouldn't use with QL if it's triggering the anticheat... And here I always thought "Lol if you're banned it means you did something wrong", but no you can get banned, even if you didn't do anything wrong...

1st of all i played 0 games that day before I noticed handicap, only practice where I was setting mouse accel (AND THATS WHERE ANTI CHEAT WAS ACTIVATED)
After that I was playing duels with my friends and they know im not cheater they can confirm it whenever you want!

can it cause false anticheat trigger, or was there another reason for the ban.

Well they won't tell you what happened -_- so my guess is keep using drivers, softwares for mices as usual, and if happens again then it's their fault and they need to fix it!

one thing so many of you here haven't realized is (and this counts for almost any game in the world) that they reserve the right to terminate your account for whatever reason they wanna, and they wouldn't owe you an explanation either.

Don't use the logitech g400 drivers. They're crap. Mouse feels smoothed/filtered when drivers are installed. Rather force it @ 500hz and play without.
