Tried to play earlier today but there's something wrong with the matchmaking, can't find games. Watched a few gameplay vids looks like a fun game.

Well to be fair I never liked Hawken. T:A and MWO started out promising then got worse over time (Hawken has as well). I'm not sold on Loadout by any means but I'll put a few hours into it to find out. It's definitely more in line with Quake run and gun twitch gameplay than most new FPS. It also seems to have a better F2P model than most.

Making your own weapons is actually a really cool idea, shame its third-person and not exactly a FPS. Dealbreaker for me.

this. it's hard to take 3rd-person shooters seriously. still somewhat fun though, for that one hour i played it.

Imagine that shit for a sec. 1v1 vs someone and you have no idea what weapons they are going to use? That'd be fucking hilarious - you'd have to adapt during the game.

And then after map 1 you can switch your guns to new shit and combat whatever the fucker did to you on that map, but he might read it and switch also..

Played up to level 4, not as much as I wanted to because I had some bugs which limited my ability to join matches most of the day. Was fixed for a while but now the servers seem messed up again. Balance seems good, love the game modes but feel they might not hold up in serious play. In Death Snatch (kill confirmed) it seems like sniping + healing would be a great combo with little incentive to attack. Likewise Jackhammer mode a variant of CTF doesn't seem to have enough incentive to attack. Blitz (capture points) works well as you must attack to win. Extraction (resource gathering) is random enough that it'd be extremely hard to turtle up but probably possible.
There's also a mode for competitive which combines all but Extraction but I haven't played it yet.
