Pretty sure if you are hitting 70% rail and 50-60% LG and you aren't complete idiot with respect to strategy, you can just take what items are available when dueling and still beat all but the top tier duellers.

Also, even if CA, no one wants to be on the wrong side of a 10-0 or 10-1. It's just not fun and if you quit you waste time finding another match.

TDM, but as for CA if one person is responsible for a 10-0 he'd have to be blatantly hacking or stacked teams or your team just isn't targeting him any one doing that good should be everyones first target, even if you still lose you make the game miserable for him. From that short clip, probably... but it would have been better to provide a clip where the enemies aren't such easy targets (two enemies close together in a doorway). Anybody would have raped them there.

I have the demo of that same match if any one wants to see it but that was the most obvious hack point. The rest is less obvious as he is good at toggling it on and off and seems to deliberately throw away shots at times to bring down his avg. He messed up in the situation and gave himself away.

Whether he's toggling or not we'll never know. But I've watched him play yesterday for 3 games and he still had the high rail accuracy and lg. He's very positional and we all got those days where we hit high accuracies. Maybe he just happens to be more consistent. And lets be honest, he sometimes being conservative with his lg to keep his stats high and only uses it when he knows he'll hit high acc.

Also if I didn't know him I would also most likely would believe he hacks. I think its futile right now to keep trying to prove that he does, unless you don't take my word for it then go ahead and do it. It would probably make him more happier reading it lol...

Actually i got the first email saying that i was banned for using a third party software (permanent ban) even if i never used any kind of software to get an advantage within the game.

As soon as i saw the email, i sent back a reply to the email/ticket support then i received the Ql support automated email to confirm my message.

I sent a second email 2 days later with more details to help my case. Samething, few minutes later i had in my inbox an automated message from ql support to confirm the email.
Since then, i did not get any anwser from the ql support.

I know uaLaskij got banned and according to his post that was a bug...but in his case everything got fixed within few minutes. Then i wonder why it takes that long to AT least give me a sign.

They probably want as few information filtering about the anti-cheat as possible. That and they likely don't see any point in giving such information to those they determined to be cheaters. As it is, we don't even know if it was an automated cheat detection, false positive or not. I guess not giving cheat developers debugging tools makes sense. Although they kinda do that already in some cases with the whole double damage received and half dealt.

With geeking hours and hours with a LG partner. I figured out that theres different strafe size. I dont mean something like small strafes and big strafes.

When you lg you have different strafes that can be called like:
Small = aimstrafe
Medium = dodge
Big = position

Doing a perfect medium strafe is deadly, i would say it makes 95percents of the players i played against struggle and hit almost nothing. The thing is you cant do the same strafes for a whole fight unless you play stupid players.
Then when i said some players just do the wrong size is because when they try to do the medium strafe ( like i do), they either do it too big or too small. Trust me only few units bigger or smaller than the size i found to be the perfect medium strafe can make a whole difference. PS: everyone has different point of view on the strafes size and dodge and i understand that. Im just saying mine.

Something you can do ( i call this the basic pattern but it works very well against any avg players) is:

Start with medium strafes (just big enough to not be hit by a standstill beam or around 55-60lg) then when you make him struggle/miss then you do a big strafe (not TOO big) to change your angle on him and be on his side.
Then when you are see his side then you can use the small strafe to do your dmg (aimstrafe) but dont use it for too long because more you use it, easier it is for your opponent to regain the tracking on you.

Sorry it is pretty hard to explain everything in a post, it would be much easier to show you ingame.

Each account has a login id/name, but you can change nicknames when you play.

Unless people use aliases because they want higher/better stats, then this will not work either.

They should take example with Treyarch and Black Ops 2 (LMAO yes...), with their leaderboards/stats/possibility to reset/change names etc, but this won't be possible I think, too late for that...

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard, but i fail to see how that would change anything. I mean, you would still be able to know the "master" account tied to all the nicknames, which would defeat the purpose of aliasing.

Better idea: keep improving the mechanism used to catch cheaters (punkbuster...ha, player complaints, demos, etc.), and keep banning where appropriate.

Yes and no. Yes, you can take steps to make it harder to hack. Yes, you can move some logic away from the client to make it incorruptible. No, you cannot truly control what happens on a client. So anything done on the client can and will be exploited.

I'm not a geek or very keen about this, just sharing what I think. It's not harder to cheat on BF or COD. It's even easier, from the gamer side at least, these games are so popular that it's attractive for people who make/sell cheats.

There are ways to protect a game from cheating, but not completely, it's an utopia, it will NEVER happen, because it's all depending on human nature, why would people stop cheating in a game (which is JUST A GAME) when they cheat for more important matters in life? Anyway, to protect a game you can pay people to develop anticheats, or pay people who already own and offer their anticheat. Or you develop yourself your own anticheat. Apparently that last one is what id is doing with QL?

In MMOS I have no idea, because I'm not into that genre of game, if you quickly make a research online (which I just did) you will see that there are cheats for MMOs (but why wouldn't people make cheats for MMOs, they are even more popular than FPS games lately).

Now if we go back to ways to protect a game from cheating, I don't know if there is someone out there who can develop something so difficult to break that even the best hackers can't overcome, but I think it's impossible, from experience in other games, cheat makers always update their cheats, so the best way to counter them is to update your anticheat then right? There is something I don't really like about Quake Live, it's the fact that we use emails to be able to play the game, and it's free to play, that's it. I think that's a huge mistake to counter cheaters, they can change ip etc and you will ban them again later, sure, but they come back faster than you think, specially if they are so eager. In CS and even other games that don't need STEAM/Origin/Uplay/etc you have at least let's say a cd key that you purchased to first play the game. Not only it's better because most people know that once they purchased the key once they feel like they own something really (except for STEAM, Origin etc hehe), but it's also stopping some kids who cheat and think they can fuck up the experience for others. These kids will have to purchase keys again, and let me tell you, I've seen many cheaters on CS/COD/BF who regretted quickly after purchasing the game A SECOND TIME. Why? Even if you think you have another chance, people in the community will keep track of your past they will find out that your GUID uses the same IP for instance or the same MAC adress (good luck purchasing a fucking new PC!), then you're gonna have to spend 40/50€ X times to come back everytime. And it's making them give up faster than making new emails. You see Zhu (I have nothing against you if you read this), he is still here annoying most of you here, well, he wouldn't be here if he had to buy the games so many times, trust me, cheating when you gotta make new Steam account, purchase the game again, use another paypal, use another bank card, etc becomes harder than when you just have to create a new email, use a VPN etc. An expert might come here and explain us things from their experience/job/etc, but I still tried to give you my opinion...

Edit: Btw I'm not trying to say that the business model chosen for QL is bad etc, if I'm correct with QL they tried to give another chance to the series, and with the other games around it wasn't easy, so thinking that taking money from people every 12 months with subs when you are not sure how many people would even pay for the game even if it's just one time is not a bad idea. Most of the cheats in FPS gaming are done by hooking. (i.e. messing with function calls e.g. to the graphics API). This can be detected or made more difficult but in the end you will always be at least one step behind.

The only way to really prevent cheating is not to trust the client in any way:
- No decisions made client-side
- Client only gets information on a 'need to know'-basis :)
- No use of common APIs

Unfortunately this would come with massive disadvantages and therefore will never happen.

Pattern detection... These LG hacks produce an identifiable 'fingerprint' imo.

A good example of what's an almost impossible game to cheat on is LoL actually. Haven't met a single one playing since 2009, and I know of very few examples that happened in its history and were very promptly fixed*. Ok server based and everything but counts.

unlike ql, in which there are and were years old bugs. Some are great like changing map to invite more standard users (still works to this day), others awful like the tons of rocket direct hits and splash issues that took years to get fixed (what, 4 years?)
And BTW the LoL team at the beginning was as small as QL's was. No excuses. Thing is the first did things right therefore expanded, the other didn't and the project was never meant to go big so it actually shrinked to nowadays two persons on pseudo full time (pseudo as they have other duties within the company, and do varied roles/jobs in QL as well)

The current hack going around... that's public.... has been around before the standalone switch.
It's "injected" into the (.dll when it was a browser) QL .exe. One google search.. and it's easy to find in like 5 or more places.

So the cheat detector doesn't see it and anyone who's banned because of it has been caught by other players not cheat protection... i say this because afaik its been around since late 2012- early 2013.

MMO's have cheating as well the main thing about an MMO is you lose a lot when you are caught in FPS games you basically just repurchase the game or in Quake Live just make a new account. Its more costly to cheat in an MMO. Its also easier to catch people cheating in an MMO because its so abnormal and stands out its not just accusations its obvious. Speed hacking/Flying is the most common thing. This is why Quake could be helped if it was vac secured by steam who would want to lose all their steam games to hack on Quake Live? People would still just make new steam accounts though not much you can really do about hacking in a free game, BF/COD you at least have to repurchase the game.

I didn't specifically call him a hacker, but I am open to the possibility of it for these reasons:

1) Main account is banned.
2) Main account accuracy is lower.
3) Great aim in pre-QC online tourney, yet he says "I really wasn't lging that well".
4) No LAN appearances.
5) Many banned friends.

It's not my fault some moron banned me for nothing years ago. It also makes sense that the accuracies on that account are a little lower, since I hadn't been playing as long and didn't aim as well, for the most part.

My aim wasn't great in the prequakecon tournament, I hit a "good" lg accuracy on trinity, but I was fighting in the tunnel all match. It's almost impossible to hit bad accuracies there. If I were lging well it would have been 50+ at the end of the game.

I don't expect to go any lans either. I am a bad player with decent/goodish aim, not going to win anything, and even if i were it would have to cover the costs of travel and then some to be worth the time.

As far as banned people on the friend list goes, quite a lot of people add me and I usually accept them. Doesn't mean I really ever talk to them or anything, so I don't see what that matters. When you have a large friend list a few of them are bound to get banned for one reason or the other over the years.

A lot of you people are just needlessly paranoid and/or brain dead. I've never played a game where so many people are so quick to accuse people of hacking with very little evidence.

As far as I can the aim in the OP-video looks very twitchy - i.e. a lot of very fast aim corrections with the mouse. The aim switches between both opponents are rather unfortunate as well.

The LG aim in the web-cam video looks comparatively stable and more "strafe-based". The style of aim is complete different in my opinion.
Lastly all of this is inconsequential, because both of these videos can prove neither guilt nor innocence.

Funny that you mention strenx, because apparently he was constantly accused before he got famous. Allegedly he was hitting impossible LG accs (like way above 60%) but I don't think there is any proof of that around, so that might or might not be true.

Same goes when you spect someone lging, it looks like his lg is always straight and no delay. Or even hitting behind the model. I just mean the movement can be different from a stream(or camera record) to a demo.

I'm skeptical if ID really have any sort of anti-cheat program and aren't just making their decisions based off of reports and watching demos with r_whateverthatcmdthatletsyouseethroughwallsis.

Another fine example of id Software's incompetence and double standards. This could have been avoided in the beginning with better systems in place. I don't defend, or even like, kgb, but if they consistently banned everyone with too many aliases Quake would disappear in NA.

Well, I would have understood a temp. ban for aliasing. Im not denying the fact i used an alias because after 2-3 days on new account, everyone knows who i am. The thing is they banned me for cheating even if i did not cheat. I didn't get banned by the AntiCheat but because someone watched my demos and concluded i was using a 3rd party software. With hacks as accurate and human like as the ones available now i found the best way to indicated whether they are hacking or not is try to keep your attention on the angle of the shot and the speed it is delivered.

This is especially noticeable on long distance shots on large maps namely with the rail. Ive seen a few instances of trigger bot like behavior as they go to take aim through obstacles at distance nailing 6 or more rails in a row on various angles all shots delivered at the exact same speed.
