I have read turning down your contrast and/or sharpness will reduce artifacts.

Use lightboost if you don't want ghosting

if you're using LB, maybe it's not on and you think it is?

imo should be no ghosting, I tried LB with a xl2420t and it was visually amazing, except I felt like there was some input lag.

I'm using an xl2411t without lightboost, and I think it's working flawlessly.. Not that this post is any help, just saying, could it be an actual hardware error?

so if you look at an enemy and shake your mouse rapidly in ql you don't see multiple models?

same thing is noticeable when looking at 'simple item's too

I'm fairly sure i'm using lightboost (with toasty x's application) I've enabled it and done the ' ufo test' in an browser and it was defiantly smoother - it's just in quake live I get this.

LB could be turning off when QL is run. I used to run a custom rez for ql (1440x1080) and LB wouldn't work unless I added in a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel, with the appropriate settings.

Just a guess. If you're running QL at a different rez than desktop and refresh rate, it could be turning off LB once ql is started.

hmm, I think it's on because when LB is activated the screen is noticeably darker, I can toggle it with a hotkey - my quake brightness settings are configured with LB being on , otherwise it's insanely bright.

I use the native resolution with I think is 1920 x 1080 16:9

you can check if it's enabled by using your onscreen display!
under "picture" everything should be greyed out but an option called "Nvidia Lightboost 3D blabla" where you can adjust the LB brightness!

Do you have r_displayrefresh 120? Also moto1 could be on to something.

I've tried a few different display refresh settings, would 120 be the best with LB or should it be 144?

lb only works with 120 max

make sure you have different monitor menu options when you think lightboost is on - there should only be Contrast and Lightboost Brightness available and the screen should be somewhat pink in general

tried that too, would like to see someone elses monitor to see whether i'm just being paranoid or not but it is defiantly noticeable , the same effect is noticeable on items when you shake the mouse in game too, can generally see 4-5 of the same item at once if I shake the mouse quickly enough

Its normal.
Even LB is not fast enough to have sharp motion when something moves few thousand pixels in milliseconds.

:( the basis of presuming something was wrong is asking a few players in game if they saw anything similar when shaking their mouse - most said no others said 'a little bit'

There will be a faint sharp ghost trail in lightboost mode which may be more/less visible depending on contrast/brightness settings and game environment.

In non-lightboost mode, the 'Premium' AMA setting overshoots pretty badly in some situations, try setting it to High instead.

Also, even on a CRT and in real life, things will blur if you aren't actively eye-tracking them. Not sure if this applies in your situation.

+ If you don't use lightboost the ASUS VG248QE is probably a better shout for gaming specifically as it has more options for overdrive control, at the cost of calibration options.

at 120 hz it feels like a pretty shitty 120 hz version of crt to be honest, I did not exactly try to tweak anything so far and I know it does not support lightboost, any advice?

there is some noticeable input lag in several reviews\benchmarks\mentions of 2233rz. it's first 120hz lcd model. try modern one. best models atm are xl2411t and vg248qe.

input lag is def a problem and it also feels a bit like "fake" 120hz. I sometimes even think I bought a defect 2233 lol, sometimes when i go from windowed to full the monitor will "fail" to do so and it will be like 40hz, and it will go back to normal again if i do windowed and full again.

if you really want something CRT-like I'd advise you to wait for smth like benq xl2411z/xl2420z

Getting a CRT is better and cheaper.

I'll try your colors etc but my problem is not with that.
